Wow! fire emblem ds a remake of the first one but...
The gba FE sprites looks way better for me.

what a freekin mess.... sometimes you just wanna shake some of these production decisions...
Boss: "I know what we'll do... we'll do 3d renders... that'll make it look new enough the nintendo DEE ESS!..."

2D Pixel Artist: <Thinks> "no...it'll make it look crap..."

3D Artist: "Great Idea Boss... I'll get right on it"

2D Pixel Artist: "

"
Few weeks later...
3D Artist: "Say, 2D, I need a little help over here...

2D Artist: "yeah wassup 3D...?"

3D Artist: "I got everything modelled and rendered and it looks great!"
2D Artist: <thinks> "yeah reet"
3D Artist: "thing is, when I render them to that pink mask background your so fond of all I get is these weird purply pixels around the edge of the sprites? What should I do?"

2D Artist: <thinks> "drop the whole the 3dRender idea and go 2dpixel push where you can actually have control of your pixel placement and color choices at such a low level and not have to resort to the CPU deciding things for you like it's gonna know best...?" <Sez> "er... I'm stumped 3D... go ask the boss"

few minutes later...
Boss: "WOW! Those big renders are looking great 3D...! good job there... but those small ones are a bit rough? and what's with the purple haze around the edge of them?"

3d Artist explains...
Boss: "OK, hows about this... render them to a black background, that way you get rid of that purple haze...!"
3d Artist: "OK, but what about the transparancy?"

Boss: "That's easy... just photoshop it!"

2d Artist: "huh?"

Boss: "Yeah! Photoshop it... and... stick a black outline on them... it'll look great... make them standout loads... Brilliant stuff there 3D..."

(walks off pleased with himself)
2d Artist:

<thinks> "genius"
3d Artist: "Great... I can do that with a 1 pixel Stroke in Photoshop with a macro function and batch process the whole lot... thanks to boss I can rest easy at night!"
2d Artist: <Thinks> "yet another classic title given the hack it slap it treatment..." <Sez> "I'll get my coat"
