Spent my first commissioned job upgrading my workspace with a new monitor, which then required a new desk if I wanted to use my old monitor as a secondary... which then required a keyboard drawer and went ahead and got a new chair while I was at it(old one was beyond ragged). Sadly my camera is busted so only crappy phone camera :(

...

Well, no. That was actually Jack Kirby's workplace, apparently. Original post.

When I saw it, it reminded me of the discussion that was going on in this thread. Thought I'd share this very inspirational "find", is all.

Personally, I also "work" (debatable term, as I'm not really a professional artist by any degree. Yet!) in the same place where I sleep, study and consume entertainment. Generally I have quite poor work ethic, in the sense that I constantly bounce from one activity to another. At the end of the day, I always feel unaccomplished, not having gotten much work done in any of the facets that make up my life. Perhaps a change of environment would be greatly beneficial in my case, as it could eliminate several alternatives, thus focusing my attention to a single chore. It's a configuration that I have yet to try out, strangely.

edit: as it turns out, I'm getting a studio!   :D

Det skulle vara lätt för mig att säga att jag inte gillar dig, men det gör jag; tror jag

New place, same ol spartan workspace.

Looks nice. The wall needs a cross stitched ZX, I shall finish it come June!

I keep seeing these horribly unergonomic work places and then I wonder why I'm the one with aching wrists :(
Seriously, don't take that stuff lightly. There's nothing worse than not being able to draw or use your computer because of health issues.

Changes. Changes are good. I've re-arranged my desks today to adjust for the short cable length of my new HD-webcam. Before the change, I had to draw on the flat surface in front of my screen in order to record it. Now I can draw on my drawing board (has adjustable surface angle) and record it.  :)

I agree, Dennis. Changes are good.
I spend SO much time in this room, it's funny how small changes can make a difference.

Moved the drafting table 90° so it completes a kind of bullpen effect. Ditched the extra chair after pic - now I just roll back and forth, hehe. More seamless. Feels bien.

(I think we have the same printer, Argyle. PRINTER BRO'S)

The small change was motivated by a big project I have in the works, trying to incorporate a better digital+non-digital workflow and ramp up productivity in general.)
(Haha, my pirated pixel posters are all showing. Well, except for Cure's.)

I hope you guys love seeing physical evidence of your digital peers as much as I do.
Nice to remember behind every avatar is a real person. Easy to forget that sometimes.

But . . . aside from all the above blather - let me make one serious point, since I'm even posting this junk:
From one digital artist to another, if you haven't gone dual display yet, you're doing yourself a disservice. If you can shell out the cash and have the space, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's hard to describe the benefits of doing this. It just makes everything better - you have more screen space, less ALT+TAB'ing, less time spent finding that window, reference material visible while drawing, work/draw in one mon while other is designated as the info mon where you keep your file explorer/supplementary stuff/chat programs, etc etc.
It's like a dude that works on a physical desk all day, shuffling through papers 'n crap, suddenly getting a new desk twice as big - he can organize his papers and not have to stack as many on top of each other.

LCD's have gotten very cheap. Do it.

I find it strange that most of you have such.. lack of interiour designing skill and yet you paint such amazing things...
Why not apply the same theory you use when painting to the space around you?

Ah, right! I almost forgot about this thread. I'm not an artist, but have a picture of my desk anyway.
