Hi, I could really use some help and tips on how to get the robes to not feel so flat. When I try to add highlights to folds it just looks like spots.
The sword isn't great, I was hoping to keep it 3px wide but I can't seem to make it feel "swordy" at that width.
Also can't really decide if I want the outline or not so I included both.

UPDATE:
Added some blink to the swing and it made it feel much faster.
Aslo did a death animation, with particles from Davit Masias pixel FX designer.

Maybe something like..?

I had to remove the outline from the sword as it was looking more like a stick...

That's amazing! Thank you, it's exactly what I hoped for both with the cloth and the sword!

No prob.

I looked at it again today and noticed I had ignored the pommel, and while I was at it, also decided to give the sleeve part of the hood a bit more form. That straight vertical line didn't make much sense with the added curves.
Also changed the shoulder to give the crossguard something to contrast against, and *had* to change the skull a bit also for that purpose.
Changed the hands too, because I just can't stop. (no, actually because imo they were lacking detail, so I highlighted the knuckles and separated the fingers.)

....aaand a slight variation using some of the shadow to try and give it some more form, for the heck of it.

Hopefully the skeleton isn't too dark now.

Thank you so much for the awesome help! I've been on vacation so I haven't been able to work on it until now but I tried lifting the right arm (it's left arm) up a bit and then making a floating idle animation. Not easy with all the cloth folds but I'm pretty happy with it still.

Edit:
Also did a side view:

Not quite as happy with this, the cloth just doesn't feel as good but I can't put my finger on it.

Thanks!

I've moved ahead to an attack animation.

Turns out I'm terrible at trail effects, becomes super apparent with this large size. Any help is very very welcome!
