[WIP] Dragon

on: July 21, 2007, 01:31:33 pm
As with my previous threads, you guys know I am very bad at actually paying attention or utilizing criticism. However, I need your help urgently on this one (I don't care much about the anatomy, he looks goofy because he still is in his baby ages. I'll fix his furthest hand however.):

The scales bother me, I've looked and rummaged through many pics and I can't seem to get them right, as is the case with his closest foot, something seems odd about it due to the scales attempt. Anybody willing to help? (I can understand if not.)

If I were you I would be concentrating on getting the structure of the dragon correct, I think you are applying textures way before you have sorted any of the basics. I personally would coulour/shade before adding scales and whatnot so you are in a more comfortable position to experiment.
I've not got anything interesting to type here..

Doing that right now. If there's anybody who doesn't like the anatomy much, point it out before I go into full assembly akin to Vyrkarr - Horse pic.

go use a reference picture off Google or something, the wings like like one joint altogether and the hind legs look like human legs( if they we're chibi).

all (fit) beasts are created by 3 main components:

the skeleton - notice the universality in chordata?

the musculature - again the universality

the texture - here is the variation, but not as much as you'ld think

regardless, no matter what components you choose to meld together, they all have certain properties that must not be neglected.  Currently, your dragon is missing most of these things.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.
