December 1st Quarter Elections

on: November 08, 2005, 12:59:43 am
Time flies... it's already been almost a whole quarter and we're coming upon our second election period.

People with an interest in the community are encouraged to participate and run for office. Scroll down for the election schedule.

For those who are not familiar with the process, every quarter people campaign for seats as representatives of the forum. As representatives, they are in charge of providing activities and governing over forum etiquette matters. Elected officers, known as Daijin, will choose for themselves two people, known as Daihyo, which will assist with the activities and other issues.

The Daihyo of the current quarter are permitted the option to stay on and be promoted to Daijin themselves. Congratulations to Flaber, who has opted for this position. The other representatives have either declined or have not given a confirmation either way, so they shall be leaving at the end of the quarter. For the remaining seats (Seat 1, Seat 2, and Seat 4), open elections shall be conducted.

To guarantee equal opportunity to participate in this governance, representatives are unable to hold consecutive terms in the same position for one quarter.

Here is the schedule:

November 10-23 - Campaign Period.

November 24-30 - Election Period.

Good luck to those who intend to run. There will be a campaign thread set up on the 10th. To be eligible you are required to gain the support of at least 1 other member, that's it. When the campaign period arrives, candidates may create a thread for their campaign messages.

I want to personally thank all of the representatives for giving their time and energy to the forum and community. Your initiative is appreciated.

I challenge all those who wish to run but are too scared to, to run.  It is a wonderful experience and you get to see the forums workings.

I am as well.  College life isn't quite as busy as I had anticipated, and I tend to lurk around these forums a lot.  Maybe having a position of power would bring me out of the woodwork.
Always remember: a preposition is not something you should end a sentence with.

daihyo propose ideas, give suggestions and opinions on things.
we also vote.

generally if you want your idea voiced properly you tell your representative daijin and they will make a proposal for it. then when that is up and the ideas and details are discussed, you vote yes or no for the activity or challenge to go through.
