big headed

on: November 07, 2005, 08:16:14 am
So I started working from this sketch (I would post it but none of it exists in the pixel anymore) and got to a point where I didn't know how to continue:

The biggest problem I face is that I find it far easier to shade in pencil than in pixel and I sorta hit brick walls with pixels. Any suggested ways around?

BTW: I know this is a big(ish) piece but I'm not going smaller. I've been smaller before.
thanks Dogmeat!

So far the only real issue I see is that the lines on the forehead seem more like scribbly lines than part of his face. I think more definition
using value rather than line would help in this situation. I've seen a style similar to this before, so I'm not sure if this is your style or what have you but the shading around the jaw seems a little too "layered" compared to the rest. perhaps less colors and more definition using shape in that area would help? Good work I really like the shading around the eyes!

you should unite the shadows of the wrinkles in the forhead, because right now, it looks like you have carved some isolated wrinkles. Look at what you did to the eye. you blended the wrinkles with the shadows. try that in the forhead.

other then that, looking pretty stiff! :D keep it up
