First time with pixel art

Hi all,

I just picked up pixel art and boy is it a lot.

Spent a while working on this today (didn't think it would take so long just to do a head!) and thought I would share it. I would love some advice/critique on it, but at the same time I am also just posting it so I can feel like I actually did something - this way I hope I won't give up!

Anyhow, here it is. I struggled a bit with the hair, but I'm sure I'll be able to find some tutorials out there to help me with it

I updated my little man today - he now has a body! But I am having a hard time figuring out what looks better. The slightly longer body or the slightly shorter one? So many questions.

And I feel like my highlighting is questionable at best... :S

Here he is - in his very own spotlight! (Yes, I was very proud of finishing my first... Does this count as a sprite?)

Any comments/advice is appreciated.
