A new avatar for myself.

on: October 31, 2005, 12:46:22 pm
Well as you can see I have a new avatar...
(Suits my username better methinks.)

Anyway, I have included my step by step process (below) for anyone who's interested.
Crits are more than welcome, as I'm planning to get back into pixelling again after about a year of minimal output from me.

9 colours including transparency, and perhaps a little too small for its purpose...

Edit:
Ok now it has a body:

Edit 2:
After being told it literally looked like a piece of shit, I decided to have another go at the body...
So a few minor edits here and there:

Looking pretty good so far, but I find the way you detailed the body too distracting, it's overpowering the larger shapes and makes it hard to read properly.
I also feel that the green background and black frame are not right - they confine the figure to an uncomfortable space .I'm guessing that making it transparent would work better.
Good job otherwise, i like the texture in it.

Thanks for the crits, this any better?

I basically just toned down the shading on the arm...
And I might have no taste what-so-ever, or my monitor may be crying for a callobration - but I like the green - so I'ma gonna keep that.

We love Jawa  ;D

I like the little Fella and the new version looks better to me,
but I would suggest to define the Beltpouches more, unfortunately I'm not so good with pixelart right now
so I don't really see a way to accomplish that.
Sorry for beeing of not much help.

I really don't know what that means... as I did shade it the same way.
Even so, I completely reshaded the arm, so what's the verdict? Better or Worse?

much, much better.

That green is nasty, though.  How about a nice tan, or beige?  Maybe orange?  Light blue?

Though it'd mean adding some extra colors, I'd play with those pouches a bit. They blend into the rest of the coat and making them stand out a little more would add more depth.

Well before I resort to adding colours, I thought I'd give this a try:

And look, I buckled and changed the green! :o

Much better now I may suggest u to remove the new orange and Make a lighter background not so light like the green one .
but a littel darker , for the arm shading its 100 time better now , but the Body (chest) shading isnt making a sense
It looks like a tree shading texter , so I suggest u to make it much clear and Understandable Like the arm shading
Its a part of the clouthing anyway  ::)

good luck
