Grass texturizing?

i would really like some tips on making grass tiles more realistic. the tutorial links ive followed posted on the other thread do not really help. 
basically my grass is looking like this
no depth, no feel, really not much of anything.

sry if i posted this in the wrong part of the forum. i just realized it after i posted it.

I think the scale of your image is a bit too small to really pull off any kind of texture on the grass.b At least anything other than something stylistic.
