hee hee

I've just been tweaking my auto-vectorization plugins, which I finally got working.
Behold:

(using the same palette as the original.)

Now I just have to get rid of the occasional spot (scale2x should do that fine), and it will be perfected.
HAHAHAHAHA

It sure beats Madgarden's manual scaling method. The only thing is it doesn't much like dithering.

If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.

The blue was bad, zolth, so very bad. I still have nightmares about how messed up my zombie avatar's colours looked on that blue.

mmph, okay. I haven't edited that for ages, actually. If you read my post, you would see it is 99% technology that is responsible for the newer 'huge' version. just a little configuration on my part.

Camus: Talk to you privately. (the rest of this post is still relevant)

Akira: These are the requirements currently:

1. Gimp 2.2.9
2. Python 2.4+
3. potrace (the backend; this is much better at tracing pixely stuff than autotrace*, but it only works on B/W pics. That is actually an advantage for my plugin.)

* autotrace is what the 'selection to path' plugin included in Gimp by default is based on.

optionally, my other plugins are helpful.
It will be faster on Linux, cause Linux has better startup times (due to excellent disk caching i think)

My plugin provides the following:
 * a command to automatically vectorize the picture, with a vector for each color region
 * the reverse, a command to automatically rasterize a set of vectors (the color is encoded in the name)
 * also for nicety, a command that just wraps potrace and functions as a usually more likeable version of 'Selection to path'.

However
This is about the only of my many plugins that I am not prepared to give you yet. I need to sort out this patenting business first.
Technically I could prevent someone else from patenting just by having well distributed prior art (ie this plugin), but I am undecided yet as to the course I'll take.

people come here looking for artists, but where is a good place to go if I'm looking for programmers? especially RTS programmers.
For this, a long time have I waited.

Gamedev.net for PC programmers
GBAdev.org for GBA programmers
flashkit.com for Flash actionscript  programmers

that's all I can think of Xanth.
