If there aren't, it would be worth putting one together as a nifty community project.  :y:

Why would you need a book on the subject? Since you're most likely creating pixel-art on the computer, you might as well keep some of the tutorials listed here open in another window.

I have a book called Pixel World I picked up at a random bookstore in Houston. It's just an art book though, not tips or techniques in it. I would think it would be easier to use online tutorials anyway... you have the zoom option and dont have to keep referring back to something else and flipping through pages... I would think it would just be a hassle.

I got this not too long ago. It seems to be more of a history of sprites rather than a how-to, really, but there are a few techniques and a couple interviews in there:

http://www.amazon.com/Character-Design-Mobile-Devices-Lawrence/dp/0240808088/ref=sr_1_7/102-4797859-5378545?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174571146&sr=1-7

I also have a Photoshop magazine with an article on Army of Trolls and a how-to thing for an iso city.

If you're looking for tutorials, you should really check out what's FREE before buying something:

Maybe this book: http://www.blendernation.com/2007/01/12/free-book-designing-arcade-computer-game-graphics/ will help you.
I don't think you'll learn any specific pixel art techniques from it though (I read it a long time ago, so I don't really remember) but it may be helpful anyway. I remember it had some really good explanations of the technical side of pixel art (screen modes etc.) and it also contained some interesting interviews with old sceners. And it's free so you have nothing to loose.

This old book may also have something to say about the subject too: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Using-Deluxe-Paint-Steven-Anzovin/dp/0874551706?tag2=gp04-21  :P

But seriously, I don't think a book could teach you how to become a better pixel artist. I think the best way too learn is to work on your traditional skills until they're really solid and then study some works from you're favorite pixel artists.
Nobody is perfect. I'm nobody.
