Animated doggy looking for crits :)

on: October 13, 2005, 08:28:51 am
Hi there, this is my first post here!  ;D I used to hang out at pixelation/gdr waaay back in time but that's another story.

I'm making a small dog character for a possible side scrolling game. Here he is:

First, is the colored and shaded static version, then a 4 frame walk cycle and a 6 frame walk cycle.

I'm pretty pleased with the coloring/shading but any crits are welcome. The 4 frame cycle is mostly there to show that I have improved ;) to the 6 frame cycle where I also tried to add some floppy ears.

If anyone has some feedback or sees something that is out of place or just wants to comment I'd be grateful and happy. Thanks!  :)

Wow, what a very clean character.
I think the 6 frame cycle is very very good.
The only thing that looks out of place to me is
on the static colored frame the "arm" does not look as clean as  the rest.
You may want to soften the inner line on the arm a bit more.

Good work!
I liked the animation sprite (lineart, funy style and animation) and not much likes the colour version.

May be problem with contrast.  :-\
Excuse me for my bad English! :/

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it!

Here's some updates:
softening of arm

more visible arm: (old / new)

My biggest problem was that the frame where the back arm only is slightly visible, it's more or less some padding on the outline. Is this an okay thing to do? Ie, does it work in general?

Dich: I kinda like the colors myslef, so I guess there's not much to do. :)

Dude, that is SO [Adjective] Animal Babies!
It looks sweet, though. Clean and nice to look at.
