The first tut you posted is somewhat limited, due to being too much formulaic (put these pixels here, lightsource there, now move things up 1 pixel), and it messes the "high points" part of the walks, and the movement of knees/hips. Idleworm's provides a much more solid framework from where to build on and key points to pay attention to, and is generally accurate (for a cartoony walk, that is
