4 Frames can be enough, its just that right now he doesnt walk, he kicks air.

You need to remove the horizontal shifting and give it bobbing. Walk anims NEED head bobbing...

Because an edit says more than a thousand words. You need to take it MUCH farther though, this is just the push in the right direction...
Take note of all the smaller edits besides the head edit.

souly:  tried 6, but the frames werent different enough.  generally, more frames-bigger sprite.

zoso: thanks, ill try and fix that.

gil:  thanks!  that helped a ton believe it or not.  ill try and get a revised version up later.

Sorry but I thought it was ironic that you told someone else who did a 4 fram animation that they should use 6.  ::)

SOMEONE?! :mean:

As for your walk cycle eck,
- You're covering a large distance with the first 2 frames, which would be ok if there was more movement between your last two frames
- there isn't enough movement in your 3rd and 4th frames compared to your 1st and 2nd.
- As gill said he's really lacking a headbob
- The arms should swing opposite the corresponding foot, ie when his left arm is forward his left leg is back.
If you're trying to portray this, it needs to be made clearer somehow.
- You have what looks like an idling frame n the walk cycle, big nono.

It's a cute little character, and kudos on trying to move the entire body, it's a very animated walkcycle.
