Adventure game character -- crits please!

hey guys, I have been lurking on this board for a while.  I am starting to design an adventure game and this is the first character I have designed.



I'm not much of an artist so i used a template i got at http://kafkaskoffee.com/tutorials/walkcycletut.shtml

my main concern is the outline of his face from the side.  I think the hair could also use a little work, but that's not as urgent IMO.

the charactor needs more shading and the colors need to have more contrast
