Starting Pixil Art With No Artistic Background

I suck at art. Plain and simple, it just isnt my thing. I admire you guys so much that i figured i would give it a shot.
I've read one or two things about pixil art and so far im not doing great at it. I can't seem to find a way to think 3D.
Well, here is something I'm working on. Please give tips.

Anyway, I think the idea is neat but I think your lines need cleaning up a bit and please, do save in gif not jpg. Good luck!

um, i tried to save in gif form and it ruided my color. Can you tell me why?

sigh. im going to get slapped for this im sure. MS Paint.

Ehhh people still use that program so don't worry about that. Hmmm I don't use this program personally (Photoshop, I use) but I would download the trial version of Graphics Gale. I've noticed a lot of people using/mentiong it here. If you still want to stick with MS Paint, though, I suggest you save in PNG but I think browsers do something with PNG. I'm not quite sure on that...

I kinda want to try something hard. I figure if i learn on something difficult the rest should be easy. Im going to try to make something from a pic of my dog, ill post it if i ever get it done Thx for the help
