Smash face volley (moved)

on: February 16, 2007, 12:16:49 pm
(someone said me to move the topic here ;))

Hi all pixelation forum!
I'm about to complete a funny game with multimedia fusion, as the title said, smash face volley.
The sprites are all almost done but i have a little problem with MUD.

It should be a "mud pool" in which the player is stuck, he walk slowly and jump lower.
But it doesn't seem to be mud... is not muddy, slimy, clammy as it should.
Somebody can help me doing it better? I don't wanna it's like a tile object, but a unique sprite, just a "beautiful" and comprehensible mud pool...

Of course you'll get credits in the game ;D

Seems like a fun game. I really don't see a real huge problum with the recent mud.
In my opinion maybe making the mud little brighter might help. here is an example :

I just played with the colors, Again this is just my opinion. Good Luck.

Hm, i think if you want it to look wetter you should add speckled highlights to the raised areas of mud, maybe even small pools of water around like you get after a long rainy day. Maybe even bubbles like in swamps? Google wet mud for reference i say.
Personally i find Silver's edit makes it look more like sand. However i do think you could up the contrast a little with the midtones (just subtly, though, as mud is quite dark).

I'm guessing you'd prefer not to get crits for anything else so i'll just leave it at that. Good luck!  :y:

Cool looking mockup. That cannon referee's cannon could have an extra light source.

Isn't that a cooking pot ???

This is looking good :y:
I think you should add a little more light to the mud to make it look better.

The second color edit is yet better, thanks Silver!
The only problem, I think, is that the game is full screen in 320x240, so what appears smootly in the little image become a bounch of pixels in the fullscreen...
Exemple:

And mud spots out of the playground seems more like stones...

It should be more like this:
