Nice stuff, as usual. I think the darkest shade should go back to being darker, though. In the latest versions, you've lost some of the original's definition.

It looks awesome but without the action of flicking off something it seems lacking, more like he is holding his arm there, although if you were to just put a top hat in the hand (as if greeting someone) that would cover up what seems awkward to me by giving a purpose to the stance

i tried to get a likeness of your pallette without making him look washed out. he probably wont ever be, but if he was ever in a game he would seem to be one with the bg with that look.

hooray for alternative pallettes
edit: just got your post, tophat seems like a capital idea!

Such a big sprite would never be one with the backround, and yeah, you could use black really. But the next shade from black should be about 30 lightness or something.

Can't you see that in both of the palette swaps you posted, the shade next to the darkest shade doesn't ramp smoothly into the next lightest one? Too big a jump, too close to black, too saturated.

Do take a look at the knee I edited also.

might be my monitor, or my total lack of good judgement in the ramping area, but i dont see anything wrong.

Your avatar suggests any of the two as well. Calibrate.

Knee fixed.

i much prefer the red palette, it's much more muted and much more flesh like.  Very nice fighter ryu.
