[CC] Pixel art of main character for platformer
(1/1)
Dnilb:
I have to do pixel art for my university game project and I wanna make sure first frame is well done before I move on to make more(moving, jumping etc), so what do you guys think?
(his head is '@' symbol)
DSSirius:
I'm pretty much a novice really in terms of what I know, so take the following with a pinch of salt:
It's pretty good dimensions wise, only two things I would pick up on are:
1. Your purple and brown colouring on the jacket and trousers may be clashing a little. If you blend a little of a common colour into both, you'll get a more complimenting palette.
2. I've been pulled up in the past with using shades that aren't very visible so this may help you too. I think you could use a little more contrast on the jacket and trousers and boots just to get those highlights popping a bit more. Mostly on the boots though, the shading's difficult to see on them as it is.
Looks good otherwise, so just a couple quick tweaks there I reckon. :y:
Dnilb:
Does it look better now?
falz:
It does look a lot better! I think the main shade on the jacket is too bright for my liking, but I guess its preference. Shading has very tight margins a lot of the time.
Something I think might work better for the head is if it had a flatter, more coin-like shape, but more thick. Right now I'm just having trouble reading the shape of it. I'd prefer harsher, more cartoony shading on it.
here is a quick edit
DSSirius:
Indeed, that's a considerable improvement.
The bright tone on the jacket IMO gives it a more gloss look, but I kind of like it to be fair.
That head adjustment by Falz is an improvement too I think, but that's up to you really on what you're trying to portray.
Looking good now though! :y:
