I saw a drawing in a book, no idea which book it was, but a cube they had shaded looks really cool.  So I decided to give that a try.  Thiers was only 2 colors, black/white, so I started this tree using the same base idea (without shades/highlights) on the trunk.  The leaves are giving me a lot of trouble.  I was hoping someone could give me some help on it.

I'm not sure if I agree with the outline and texture on the tree, the tree looks like stone with that sort of texture.

the trunk is still wip, I planned on taking out the deep outlines but not until I get a finished look on the top.

still unsure about the leaves...as for the trunk, i've decided to keep the texture the same, I think it'll work well with the rest once the leaves are finished.  any edits are welcome.

The trunk looks a little flat to me. Maybe use some of darker shades to your advantage.

The main problem I see is that your leaves look more like balls from the way they're shaded. The light source seems kind of vague as well.

the light source is directly above.  ill add another shade to the trunk though and give it some depth.
