try to cut down on the colors

is that really nesscecary? I mean, with modern computers, is there really a need?
We have all the paper in the world; is poetry really necessary when you could just write a book? The point is to do a lot with a little. Limiting your pallet and resolution helps the pixel artist much like iambic pentameter and strict rhymn schemes helps a poet. Also, shouldn't his lower wings cover his feet? I may be rusty on this, but I'm pretty sure that was what one set was for. Its symbolic of... something... I'd say lengthen the wings, not just to cover the feet, but also to make him a bit more imposing a figure.

i cut down the colours on the robe, and Im just about to redo the wings now(make them quite a bit bigger)

but i think the robe is way better than the first one i did, its finally getting the right feel, and yes cutting down the colours did help.

still have to do the sleeves as well

I'd make the sleeves wider toward the end so they don't look like tubes. also, it would be neat if you made the wings like curve around the body, but not cover it. make them look more 3-dimensional.

yea will do with the sleeves. But the wings are meant to cover the body, and i like the way they cover it. i will try to make them look more 3d tho.

Technically, no, but then, with programs like photoshop, painter, etc., you could say there isn't really any need for pixel art at all...

ture. Ok thanks people, you;ve put it in perspective for me ;D..I like the new peices, although the sleeves look slightly out of perspective..

I'm not going to pretend this is a small task either; certainly none of us here can claim to have accomplished it.  it's the realm of masters.  still, it's what we all have to try for.

He means they should follow the shape of the body behind them. Right now they look like they are a flat image floating a few inches in front of the angel. If you give it some work, you can make it look like they are coming out from over his shoulders.
