Future Soldiers [C&C!] 02/05 up

on: January 13, 2007, 04:49:08 pm

I've worked on this a week ago, and now that all my admission tests are over, i'm trying to go full steam on it.
But I'm having a terrible problem with the legs, since I added things that weren't originally in my sketch. They don't help with the "heavy walk" look I'm trying to attain.  :'(

Any critics and suggestions (for the whole piece) would be deeply appreciated.

this is really great looking
I'd suggest lowering his far knee down some. This will make him look like he is almost kneeling down and would make more sense if he is heavy. I'd find it unlikely you would have your leg extended far back as it looks now.. so lowering th eknee would may the far leg seem more like it is under him supportin gthe weight..

Very nice, but the red hue on the top of the Stryker Shotgun kinda looks odd on the gun, makes it seem like it blends with the armor, imo.

Obrigado for the compliments ;DThanks to your suggestion I made some quick studies with myself, about carrying weight in the back and came up with a new sketch. Hope it's better now  ;)

Thank you  :) Yeah, I was not very fond of the armor reflection I tried to attempt, so I removed it for now.

---

I've changed some minor things, like: armor perspective, visor, gun reflection...
...And the new legs: Should I continue with that? Should I correct something? Or should I try again?

Oh... any tips on how to do muzzle flashes and gun smoke?

I say keep 'em.

Great job so far. Are they conjoined twins or is one just missing his bottom half?

Thank you!  :) One is missing his legs, so, the other carries him :D

I finished the legs and other minor details

Any critics and/or suggestions? I'm really open to anything if it helps it getting cooler and/or better pixelated.

Re: Berserk Brothers & Aquatic Hunter

Since I got no replies in the other one, I've started working on another.
It's an aquatic hunter. He's still very crude, I plan to add a weapon and better "water" effects.

Critics and comments are heavily appreciated  ;)

And sorry for the bump, I guess.   :-[

I'm sure you're aware your brother doesn't have highlights on half his body?

I did an edit on the gun of your first picture:

The armor reflection was very saturated, and it looked funky.

Yes, I tried to give an impression of a surface that doesn't really reflect light, like rubber, but I guess I failed at it.  :-[

Yeah, the weapon reflection is one of the things that bugs me, but I think it's a nice touch. The colors on mine were indeed really "strong" for a metal reflection, thanks for your suggestion. I'll work on it to improve mine.  :)

Really, really sorry to bump this again, but I feel a new topic wasn't worth it, since this one is working.

The last image was deleted, but now I have a more updated version and a new one

and

I'd love to hear some critics so I can get on working to improve my skills.
