Fir tree

on: December 17, 2018, 12:17:44 pm

I know it's not very good and I would like to try and find a better way to do it?
I've looked at many tree pixelarts but I feel like I can't make anything good.

I'm trying to do an rpg top-down view but I'm not sure how to show that.
I based it off a fir tree if that helps.

Hey man, it looks pretty good! You're definitely on the right track!

Here are some of the things I've noticed with your piece:

1. The leaf shapes look too similar, try mixing it up a little!
2. The shadows on the leaves are inconsistent with the shadow of the entire tree on the ground.
3. The shadow on the ground doesn't match the leaf shapes on the tree.

As far as a top down RPG, what camera angle are you going for? A LTTP top down or a BOF 4 -isometric-ish top down?

Just a couple things, but not bad my man!

I'm trying to do the kinda traditional rpg top down like Secret of mana 3 or Final Fantasy 6. Not quite top down, but like, at an angle? I'm not sure what you call that?

Bit much anti aliasing and noise IMHO, try to clean up your clusters (aka less single pixels) :)
Half a noob figuring out stuff.
