Let's give some meaning to this thread and make it the 'resolution' thread.  I'm sure there are some rebels out there who want to denounce making new years resolutions.  ;)

As for me, my resolution is to be more prolific in the area of pixel art.

Note: If you post anything along the lines of your monitor resolution, you're not being funny. :-*

Stwelin... I'm in the States.. and I've never seen the legal age limit stand in the way of anyone 'celebrating'.

As far as resolutions, I'm not against them.. I just know better than to commit myself to something that I thought was a good idea in January.

The lack of a car and strict parents are more relevent, in my case.

Fireworks in the distance, Roxette's on the TV and I've got a tiny glass of lukewarm Coke. It's officially a new year. Resolutions suck, but I feel 2007 will be twice as much a year as 2006 was. Mostly because I spent half of 2006 waiting for time to pass...

I guess I can promise to post more stuff. If not pixel art, then traditional art and 3D art. I've got a full year of 3D classes coming up, and there's a new tablet waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. Happy new year, Pixelation.

:watev: depressed on new years? c'mon. it's barely even a holiday. Most people only celebrate it because they get to laugh at an overly-speculated sexual innuendo when the 'ball drops'.

Best wishes for everyone, happy new year 2007 for those celebrating it today!

As for resolutions:

- Begin my masters degree program and strive to do the best
- Get to learn 3D (finally)
- Finish at least one of my many game dev projects
- (MAYBE) research more about and/or start my own game studio/workshop/company/whatchamacallit
- Get in shape
- Be more friendly
- Be more organized

That's it. Not too difficult, just need to keep reminding me of those and I'll be fine

Good luck everyone! Happy new year once again.

I just need to finish my portfolio, so that i can apply to an artschool for fall 08.  And by finish I mean start, but it's hard to get motivated knowing I'll be a bum next year... But hey, community college is still better than doing nothing so, I'm all for it.  ish.
I thinkfocusing on the bright side should be at the top of my list though

In priority threes:

I must put considerable effort into finalizing game projects that are hanging (relatively easy, I trust myself to do so).
I must do more comic work (not as easy as I don`t get paid for it anymore).
I must put out an EP with a friend and do that one (hopefully) live show for it (quite dependably occuring in the future).

Perhaps hone my atrophying CG skill, and\or find a way to overcome that it is unbearably boring to paint with digital media.
Perhaps a little fundamental 3d, if only to help with difficult perspective shots in comics.
Perhaps push the pixel art skills a bit more, though I don`t have it a priority.

If at all possible, compose more music at a stready pace.
If at all possible, travel about a bit with good company.
If at all possible publish my collected works comic book.

Avoid most, but not all "empty days", that is, days in which when you look back to you decree that nothing of consequence was accomplished.
Avoid prolonged contact with idiots. Nothing good comes of it, I trust this empyrical observation to be as epistemologically close to fact as possible.
Avoid situations in which tempers may flare, consciously seek a way to diffuse the situation even if it doesn`t mean that it is corrected until a later date.

Happy 2007

Uhm, my resolutions (without any particular order) are:

- To be more healthy (eat healthier and move more).
- To be more organized with time and do something efficient every day.
- To learn a tad of 3d and, expand and refine any other artistic skills.
- To Draw/Sketch/Paint/Pixel more.
- To finish my site.
- To work on this idea I've had for a few weeks.
- To visit my parents and some relatives (since I haven't seen them in 3 years - and that meaning going to Japan)

I guess more will come up sooner or later, but right now those.

These are 2 very good points.

My resolution is to get above 90% in all of my exams this year.  I just need that edge of motivation to work harder.

2007. The year of Bond.

I don't make resolutions. I never remember them, and when I do, I just feel bad for not sticking to it.

I always promise myself to become a better artist though, but that applies to any point of the year.  :hehe:

Resolutions:

1. Lock myself in a room till I learn the damn guitar.
2. Strive to become a better pixel-artist, and take on projects for small game dev.
3. Learn how to make transparent animations so I can accomplish res. # 2, stated above...
4. Become more digitally oriented with Photoshop and become a better digital artist
5. Make female anatomy second nature to my artistic memory.
6. Work out much more than I do now...
7. Find me a hot Momma...
8. Attend college again, and make different friends, but ones that I can identify with...
9. Definitely find more metal bands that can expand my horizons...
10. And finally...Challenge Snake to a pixel duel and come out victorious in the end...

All these seem pretty realistic to me...Well, maybe not the 10th, but you know, a boy can dream.

Resolutions:

- Get a job
- Get a haircut
- Get a boyfriend
- Make some new friends (my old ones all left town except for two)
- Learn how to play electic bass/bass guitar ...we have one at home already. My brother plays.
- Become good at Japanese (I got in to my second Japanese now course so this shouldn't be too hard to fulfil)
- Start training some new martial art (teakwondo perhaps?), I've come and gone to my kickboxing/thaiboxing club too many times. It's starting to feel a bit embarassing.
- Get a new gymcard so I can get rid of what I gained during the Holidays
- Star working with my comic projects (I have built my lightboard and done the storyboards already)
- Make my own game
- Go to Japan

My resolutions are few:

1. Update my website DAILY, starting now.
2. Pixel more and improve my poor neglected skills.
3. Climb more. You forget how fun it is if you aren't off the ground (excluding jumping) once every few days.
3a. When that's not an option, get on that chin-up bar in the basement!

Main one that's doable for me is getting back in shape.  Was almost there before christmas, but then the gym shut for a week or so (opens again tomorrow), and all this fooooood I had... Gonna be working my ass off for the next few weeks to undo that and then relax the working out a little.

Everything else is pretty much counting on me getting moved to a quiet home where I can finally get proper sleep and work on pixel stuff and recover fully from various health problems and maybe get a part time job in addition to pixel freelancing.  Want to make enough to get membership in the local archery group as I miss doing that stuff.  Also wanna take part in more acting whether its plays or just workshops, to help me get used to being around people again although I'd also like to do some more voice acting on radio and internet productions if possible.  And maybe finally get driving lessons.  Also I wanna actually be able to play this darn Fender electric guitar I've had for about 7 or 8 years now... Only thing I could ever play on it was the riff from Smoke on the Water but even that's gone now.  Also ideally I'd like to finally leave this country and head back to Canada where I used to spend good fun summers in when I was a kid but I still just don't see that happening even in the next few years.

I'm counting on 2007 being the year where things actually start going right... all I need is for the council to move me to a quiet place.  Then everything else will be possible from then on...
keep on moving, lil dude...

Um... I want to be less lazy, more considerate, get a job, and possibly a steady girlfriend.
I hear Mirre's on the market, though she sounds like she could kick my ass with that on and off thai-boxing. :P
But seriously, I just want to have a lot of fun this year.

May I suggest Budo Ninpo Taijutsu? Very good and flexible style. I trained in it for a couple of years. You'll even learn acrobatics!  :)

As for my New Year's resolution, I simply plan to make the most of this new year.

Heh, that reminds me of my unfaithful relationship with Hapkido.  As much as I've come and gone, I don't think I can show my face there anymore.  BTW, it's a great art if you can find a good teacher.

I did some research and found another muay thai (thaiboxing) club in town, that's actually closer to me. :) So I think I'll contact them. It would be kind of a waste to have worked so hard for the green belt if I'm just gonna give up totally. I like the sport, why I've come and gone had to do with health issues, and the last time it was because I got a job in England.

Thanks for the tips though, guys!

I think the most important part of getting into martial arts, more important than the specific art is to find a good teacher.  You're really luck y if you can find someone with: good technique, the ability to teach, and no serious ego problems.

My instructor was pretty good, although he seem to give the girls a little more attention than the boys.  I heard some interesting stories about him after I ended up leaving class.  I don't think this is the most terrible thing, as long as doesn't interfere too much in class.

Although I had a friend who trained in TKD with someone who had great technique, and knew how to teach.  The high belt was his wife.  Unfortunately the whole class broke up when he ended up sleeping with another woman in his class.  Heh, how's that for character and integrity.

When you kids grow older, you'll learn that drinking up and getting drunk is overrated. There's no good that can come of being drunk. Don't believe me? Wait until that one misfortunate morning when you wake up in someone's bed, only to find out that the person next to you is the one you've been trying to avoid during the whole last evening.

Polyamoury is the way to go... all of that would have been avoided had our global community been conditioned into a more (what I believe to be) refined way of behaviour... character... integrity... that's just a way of pinning down people to behave in a certain manner for the so called good of humanity - bound by rules the church intially set up to control our wanton ways which has become deriguer of the global societies belief system whether you're religious or not... let's face it - people sleep around... partners 'cheat' on each all the time - I'd rather people were open and honest with each other and appreciate the beauty in each other... male or female and don't get too hung up on taboo or possesive over each other!

As Perry Farrel once sang - "Ain't no wrong ain't no right... only pleasure and pain"

I don't know where that came from - I think I must be going slightly mad - suffise to say I do have an alternative take on lifestyle choices and I'm fully aware that I live in a distinct minority.

My resolution
- break rules & live a little
- forgive quick & kiss slow
- laugh long & never regret
- remember old friends & loved ones
- make new friends & loved ones
- travel
- eat well
- ride hard
- dive deep

Heh, I used to wish that's the way things should be.  Unfortunately, in my life experience, jealousy is ingrained.. and once the green eyed monster gets involved, all this openness idea gets thrown out the window.  Plus there's other fun stuff, like STD's.  I'm not saying that I'm pro-establishment, but life is an balancing act between rules and instinct.

And one thing for sure, if I pixled as much as I've been talking, I might actually improve some.

Let's give some meaning to this thread and make it the 'resolution' thread.  I'm sure there are some rebels out there who want to denounce making new years resolutions.  ;)

As for me, my resolution is to be more prolific in the area of pixel art.

Monitors? I thought it was obvious that I was going to be plotting quadratics on a grid of that size.
