Cellphone game

on: December 28, 2006, 12:55:32 am
After months of no posts here on pixelation Im back in bussines.
The game is based more or less of mockup I posted here long ago.
Programmer is a nice guy from sdw developments.

Its a horizontal shoot m up with. All tiles are 16x16 without color restrictions.

Basically your spacethemed level that you find in any(mostly) game of that sort.

Jungle planet with some ruins of some kind.

Homeworld of the aliens you fight against.

And all the stuff you need besides the backgrounds.

Oh yeah and the titlescreen (we dont have a name for this game yet).

OMFG!!!  :o

This is absolutely breath-taking! I'm totally stunned and blown away by how amazing the graphics look!

The way you animated those objects are spectacular. They look so 3D. And that titlescreen art is gorgeous!

Such professional and beautiful stuff you got here, vierbit. I would sooo love to play this game!  ;D

Oh, and by the way, I love your avatar.

in the tiles, im not seeing too much form, but the detail information and the depth level(forground background etc) is there which is whats important.
those anims are sexy and the title screen is wonderfully dynamic!

I was just recently looking at the tile challenge from a while back and came across your entry and thought "I wonder where vierbit went."

I'm glad you've returned, because this stuff is ace. The craters on the first level, the rotation animations and the title screen have to be my favorites. Usually when I set out to do something great, I lose any ideas I had for details to make the piece more impressive so I end up with large areas of the same color, but somehow you pack in enough details to keep everything interesting, impressive, but not so much that it'd be cluttered.

The only thing that bothers me is the second level tiles are very angular and it'd seem to me that they are what should be the most organic of the three with it being covered in overgrowth and all.

The graphics are pretty gorgeous and look wonderfull, however, a very tiny nitpick, is about the annoying black edges around the graphics on screenshot num. 1. Otherwise, everything is just awesome.

wow, that is some really impressive work there, very pro.
The dynamic-ness of the space level is great!
The background of the jungle level seems like it has been sapped of any color and has been left with a icky brown-green dull hue.. It gives me the feeling of a swamp rather than a jungle.
cool animations  :y:

These are really cool, and I mean really...
What I don't understand is the inconsistancy in AA:
On the space level pretty much everything is AA'd.
On the forest level you've AA'd most things, but parts are clearly absent of it.
On the alien homeworld, you've AA'd virtually nothing.

thanks for comments and critics.

@alex
Yeah I know the background looks a little colorless
I changed the palette a couple of times and stand with this.
Maybe i work here a little more on this.

@faceless
The inconsistancy of AA bothers me myself.
No Idea whats the reason is
but maybe that the first and most parts of
the second level I created on an lcd rather on a normal monitor.

Nice!  My only crit is that is not very many baddies.  Ditto the props on the depth of the space tiles, but the other sets look great to me too.  It's funny, that turret is more than a little similar to the one that's going into the space shooter I'm doing right now :)  I guess there are only so many small, ground-based turrets!  Can we see some boss designs?  Great stuff!
