Platform Animation

on: December 24, 2006, 05:12:44 am

This is for a game I'm owrking on with a team, it's the main character, so if anything could be improved it needs to be now.  5 frames.  It's supposed to be a pilot.  Please critique, i'll try and update it.

I'm guessing the arms are coming in later?

Right now, without the arms, he looks like he's swinging too wildly, as if he has no arms in the first place.  It's definately better than I could do, looks fairly smooth.  I like it :P
Feel free to teach me how to choose colors and shades.  I'm willing to learn.  PM pl0cks.

it looks like his legs rotate, like;
the right leg comes to the front, then shifts over to the left, goes to the back, then shifts to the right, repeat.

He probably will copy these 5 frames to make a 10 frame animation and then continue the rotation and start the arms.
I reckon its easier to do the cycle with arms at the same time because it makes the poses better. Try making
the animation with him in the air for some frames. Its best if you get your animation right in balck and white first (easiest
to edit) and then color it. Thats how i do it.

Did an edit to show you how it looks better with vertical movement (but this animation still has problems, the arms seem to move
too fast).

Cute character. Is a ww1 pilot? Maybe you could have a scarfe then.

That's a great edit, sharprm, thanks.  I'm not going to edit that one, but I want to show you my latest-

I think it's much improved over the last one, but still... bad.

What's he doing with that stick? o.0

I think you should work on making it more readable and defined. Another thing I notice is that his head bobs unevenly, in a kind of 323212 fashion, if you get what I'm trying to say.
