Transport for London

on: December 19, 2006, 03:04:48 pm

Well, they have finally launched the TfL (schools) website! It’s been a long time coming, over a year infact. I was first contracted to work on the project late 2005, and I put in about 4 months on and off, until very recently. Sadly enough most of the people I was working on the project with have gone on to other jobs, as is the norm when working in London.

Glad to see it up and running, let me know what you think! (I did the pixel art and flash animation only)

The site is very inspiring. I was a little put off by that crossing page where the walking sprite was scaled down, but the rest is top notch. Always fascinating seeing everyday objects or situations translated to pixel art.

Overall, it's really impressive. Nice animation and design, some superb work.

Edit:
My only annoyance is that the licence plate shown in the first post, doesn't match up to regular British format. :o Unless we're going for some Taxi plates. ?!

the most insane part of the project was the research I guess. Know how hard it is to find plans of tube interiors and bus interiors? The Taxi cut away took some life out of me. Practically everything matches up to it's real-world counter part as I wasn't allowed to "approximate" like eboy kinda boxy stuff.

I was going to make a smaller version of the dude for the smaller scale screens, but time ran out. I too do not like the pixelation of the dude when he's scaled down.

Really nice work work mate, think they intergrated the pixelart into the website pretty well.
