[C+C] Mask transform animation (princess->beast) (WIP)

on: October 15, 2018, 10:09:39 am
Hey all !
Princess puts on Beast mask, it changes her into a hellish beast. It's supposed to be kind of creepy and painful.
I'm stuck as to how to do some sort of seizure-like transition between her different poses before she changes entirely... Can anyone help ?

Also, I'd really appreciate any critiques/advice on the whole animation or part of it :)

Edit : Added some squash & stretch at the very end and some followthrough using her hair ornament braid thing

I'd add a bit of motion smearing between 'em. Something like the after-image effect used when Wario does his shoulder-charge in wario land 4!

Hadn't thought about that. Is this how you pictured it ?

I transitioned this into the Beast's idle animation, how does it look ?

(Here is the idle looped indefinitely :

yeah, that looks loads better! Adds a bit of mystic dynamism to it that sells the suddenness of the motions and horror of the transformation! Good work!

Yee thanks for your help, I'm pretty satisfied with the end result ! I still find the moment when she's on all fours too still, maybe I'll try adding some kind of convulsing/shivering motion later.

Was gonna say this animation could definitely use some staggering. What I had in mind was pretty advanced stuff tho, transitioning between last tweens and extreme poses (probably putting some examples here)

Is the mask not changing angles intentional? I mean it totally works in the idle loops like it's staring us down, but wonky in the rest of the anim.

I'm not sure I see what you mean  :-[

I didn't really give it a thought, but it doesn't strike me as odd, where do you suggest I change it ?
