Well if it's really short, the hairdresser gives you an anisthetic before shaving it off. Personally i thought they screamed through the sheer boredom of the conversations.

I just couldn't help but smile when playing the demo. The stream of flowers coming from behind the character was beautiful. Reminds me of the Shishigami from Princess Mononoke a bit.

I couldn't help but relate Okami to the 3d Legend of Zelda games. You have your annoying little follower in both, as well as a few other similarities. Of course, Okami rocks, whereas the 3d Zelda games suck.

Wow, really? I found the N64 to be the biggest disappointment so far (of the consoles i owned, never had anything upwards, I've only tried the Play Stations and the Cube at friends' places), with the exception of the two Zeldas, and maybe Mario (Kart).

Well, they don't suck per se, I find them boring to play. Maybe it's the fact that Ocarina of Time is considered the best game ever that ticks me off. Or maybe it's just my taste.

My favourite Zelda game is the Minish Cap, I had a lot of fun with it ['til I got stuck and didn't know where to go], graphics are nice, music is nice. It's very well done.

It's a little sad that we need a whole forum for the rules, when they can be simplified down to the 'don't be an ass' rule.

Well, it's not as simple as that really. There is other stuff which needs to be pointed out and some of it is just guidelines and suggestions on how to post, not really rules.
And they are in a seperate forum so noone can claim not having seen them.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Mccow28: The "don't be an ass" rule is not half as important as the "post your reference" rule, since that's what we have problems with 90% of the time. Also, you and I well know Pixelation's policies, but you can't expect new members to know them if you don't write them down in grotesque explicit threads, so they simply CAN'T come up with the "oooh, sorry, I had no idea ripping off someone else was prohibited" stuff you see all the time.

LOZ:OOT is my favourite game to date. Along with advance wars and fire emblem.
I also really liked minish cap (of which i've yet to complete.. got annoyed when the guy wouldn't restock the final sculpture thing) but i think the story and depth of the game lacks in comparison to OOT - of which i got really into.

And i think the RULES board will work. Shame it has to be there, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I don't find it too hard to just ignore really (of course, after i read it all..).  ;)

Not by me they ain't.  I loathe the N64 Zelda's, especially OoT, with a passion.  Just recently got rid of my 2nd cartridge (was bought in a bundle of other carts originally and first cartridge of it I had smashed few years back) of it on ebay.  I still love Link to the Past though my all time favorite Zelda is easily Link's Awakening on the original Gameboy.  Is the only game I've ever played where I really got involved with the lil story and it just has so much charm which was totally lacking for me in OoT.  And I get severely pissed off when I read comments like in Retro Gamer that state if someone doesn't like OoT they must be lying.  Cos god forbid anyone has a different opinion...

Anyways just wanted to post and say nice to see 'Pixelation' up now.  Decent skin too.  That's pretty much all I had wanted to say.
keep on moving, lil dude...

Yeah, I have that. It's a lot of fun, but for some reason parts from that game and parts from Link's Awakening blur together in my mind. So when thinking of it I'm really thinking of Link's Awakening, and the other way around. I enjoyed Link's Awakening a lot, but not unlike Minish Cap I got stuck at a part and haven't played it since. In fact, I'm gonna dig it out when I get home. Thanks for reminding me.  ;)

I found Link's Awakening actually fairly easy (still just love playing it over and over despite that) and have finished it many times on a real Gameboy and on emulation (I play it with my PC connected to the big TV and set to stretch to max just to have super chunky Link).  It's a sweet lil ending that is one of my all time favorite moments in video games.  Also gets a lil extra thing if you finish it without dying at all on that save file (as in if you die just reload, do not continue).  Just occurs to me that I've not finished the DX version before.  That'll be my task then for the next couple weeks or so.  Am curious if they added anything to the ending like that have ingame (the extra dungeon and the photographs being the most obvious extras)
keep on moving, lil dude...

Freaking awesome job. I disappear for a couple of weeks, and this happens when I get back.

A forum worthy of feeling like home, now! I honestly still don't like the smilies, I still think a yellow circle with a face should remain a yellow circle with a face.. but then again, I never use them anyway, so what do I know?

Wheee, Pixelation.  :y:

It sounds obnoxious and condescending to you, Takam, that understand and care for being civil and proper in the forum intuitively. But it's not there for you so much as new people, or people with less intuitive politeness than you. The less visible we make it, the more people we'll get that will disregard it. Please endure.

Ive never really understood all the hatred for sunshine... i love that game, all the levels just feel like areas, like the area outside the castle in sm64, Im sure everyone here can admit to just jumping round outside there for a couple hours. thats what every level felt like to me
I mustve clocked in several hours just running and diving around the beaches in sunshine, running along the roof tops squirting all the birds down, jumping on the ropes lol..

the only mario game I dont really like is new super mario bros... just not feeling it  :-\

infact, Im gonna go play sunshine now

I abhorred Donkey Kong
I loved Mario bros.
I loved Super Mario Bros.
I loved Super Mario Bros. 2
I loved Super Mario Bros. 3
I loved Super Mario World
I loved Super Mario World 2: YI
Mario 64 was the best game in history, without any possible equal. It's inspirees, however (Crash bandicoot, Spyro, etc.), sucked horribly.
I HATED Super Mario Sunshine.
I'm undecided about SMG.

Personally thought while Mario 64 was 'groundbreaking' for being a decent 3D platformer, it still didn't play anywhere near as well as Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island.  Found it very mediocre much like New Super Mario Bros.  I've given up on Nintendo.  Found it hard to find anything I've loved of theirs since before 1996 (with the possible exception of Metroid Zero Mission)

Mario 64 was a really great game, but it's not really fun for me to play. My favourite one would have to be Super Mario World, then New Super Mario Bros [it's pretty sweet, actually].

I'm not looking forward to Super Mario Galaxy, 'cause Nintendo seems to enjoy ruining perfectly good series' over time [Super Mario, Metroid, Kirby...]

I dunno what everyones problem with Sunshine is really. I enjoyed it. Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES is still supreme tho.

majoras mask xion?

Gah, how could I miss one?
I could've liked Majora's Mask more, and I don't know why I didn't, but it didn't feel right. The world was nice, as were the masks, quests, etc., but the main quest just didn't seem...questy enough.

A Word on Sunshine: The graphics were wonderful, and I enjoyed cleaning up the graffiti, but Mario 64 set the standard for my expectations of a 3d Mario game, and Sunshine just didn't seem to deliver. I would have liked some more physical attacks as opposed to spraying everything. The delightful familiarity of classic mario enemies was gone and  they completely screwed up the koopas. Even if they did get rid of "classic" baddies, a wider variety would be nice, too. I got tired of those big pirhanna plants real quick. The final Boss was easier than anything I've ever done before. Bowser's voice in the end...reminded me of spike from Tom & Jerry. But mostly, it was just the FLUDD that hindered my enjoyment. As a means of locomotion it was fine, but it took away from the feeling of action and danger that comes from getting up close and personal with an enemy. I would rather run up and punch or jump on something, using the FLUDD for parts of boss battles and a select few enemies.

Yeah, but after a while I need some kind of objective.

Controls for one. I did play it at a pretty unpleasant setting, but still. Super Metroid is my favourite game, Metroid Zero Mission is really high up on the list, so the simple fact that it's a FPS kinda ticks me off. Not to say that FPS's aren't good, but the Metroid series should have no part in it. IMO.

I would not say Metroid Prime is an FPS per se. Even tho it is fist person the major thing is still exploring and shot shooting, also much much much easier controls that other console "FPS" games. I thought Retro did an awesome job, still one of the most emmersive first person view games EVER.

Metroid is an action-adventure platformer from a first person view, eh? I used to dislike the controls, too, but after a while they grew on me. Much easier for us non-FPSers who still enjoy strafing around prey.

It's not like they haven't been making more traditional Metriods at the same time, though.  You have to go in new directions or else you might as well play the original.

I know I'm being a rebel by posting this in the off-topic, when it's sorta on the topic of pixel art...

I'm having troubles using the Pro Motion trial. Like, for example, I accidentally ended up clicking the Get (animated) Brush - Box Selection thing and I couldn't seem to get the brush back to normal. Also, when I draw anything now it creates a random tiled background for whatever reason. Normally when I get a program I go about and try random things, but this is starting to scare me.

I happened to look at people's titles and noticed that the hierarchy had been re-ordered.  I could find what some of them meant by searching on Wikipedia, but am not sure what a couple mean.  Could someone who had something to do with the re-naming enlighten those of us who are not as familiar with the Samurai hierarchy as others?

By the way, the ones that I could find were Ronin: masterless Samurai; Heishi: the Taira Clan (former imperial family members) during the Heian period; Ashigaru: lower-class Samurai or foot soldiers; and Gaijin: foreigners.  I couldn't find what Shonin or Nofu signified.
Always remember: a preposition is not something you should end a sentence with.

Though it doesn't answer your question, I feel I should still tell you that the color used to outline the pumpkin is a dark gray tone... so... you should have no problem removing the background.

Why did I not even think of clicking those?  :-[
For the background tiling, it's really hard to duplicate. So no screenshot, I'll just be a little more careful with what I do on the program. Yay for a lesson learned.

Ain't been too bad so far.  I'm trying not to get too involved mainly cos I'm still recovering from various health problems and extreme stress levels and even the smallest annoyance winds me up like crazy.  I ain't gonna be posting much art if any at all, mainly cos I'm at the stage where I just do it for me and have so much I wanna do I'd rather just get it all done and into games and get them out there rather than spending time doing adjustments based on other peoples opinions.  If it looks good to me, then I'm happy.  I'm more into the actual game creation aspects these days than pixel perfect art.  Anyways this place does feel better than Pixelopolis I guess.  And theres been some darn fine community stuff appear like that big tiled Iso piece (don't usually like iso work much cos it's usually just simple crap but that was just beautiful) and I had a bit of fun doing the avatar fad thing (which I'm probably gonna put in one of my retro games).  Yeah.. it's not too bad a place.

55 words is a famous one.  Exercises like that are used a lot... any arbitrary amount of words works, but 100 and 250 words are also common.

The majority of the stories are made up mostly of dialogue, with a twist (like piranhas or bigamy) at the end. Each one takes about ten seconds maximum to read. There's love (a werewolf has a tendency to kill his girlfriends on the full moon), murder (a sex kitten turns out to be a hit woman), terrible puns ("Abra-cadaver!") and sex ("Brenda promised the horizontal hokey-pokey if he wore a chicken suit and spoke French").

Yeah, I posted these over Punaji. Might give you some Ideas:

Quote
I like imposing pointless limitations on myself to get my juices flowing.

100 words exactly:
Why do they think I pressed the button? Someone bumped me. I had to catch myself, didn't I? Or maybe they think it would have been better if I had just let myself fall? I thought they were joking when they said the laser had the potential to...to destroy that. But...but everyone is staring at me. I can even hear their horrified silence over the loud thrumming of the machine behind me. Any second now the machine will stop and then they will all laugh...either that or tomorrow there will be no moon to be found in the night sky.

One day I heard this big crash while walkin' down the street. I felt all tingly and weird, like my whole body had gone numb. I could see, but then I couldn't see; like when you poke one of your eyes out of position so that everything fades and stuff. Anyway, there was a bunch of smoke around, and, when I turned around to look at behind me, I saw me pinned between a car and a tree. It was pretty freaky, so I tried climbing back into me. I guess it worked, but thirty minutes later, I died again.
and
Quote
26 sentences, each starting with the next letter of the alphabet, A-Z:
"Am I really here?" Bombs fell from the sky as Lukas looked out from beneath the overturned tank. Carnage was spread all about the city and the bodies of nazi troops flew into the air as the bombs hit the ground.
Dead. Everything was dead. From the filthy, blood-clogged gutters to the shrapnel-ridden street; from the grey and red-stained sky to the grey and red-stained earth.
"God, please, save me. Help me." In all his time as a nazi, Lukas had killed countless Jews and Americans, but never once gave any a second thought. Just that fast, as the bombs came crashing down, all the faces of the dead - the ones he killed - came rushing back in a wave of reconciliation.
Killing was easy; a euphoric rush of red and power, but dying...Lukas never knew how emotionally tormenting the process of death could be. Mortified, Lukas' eyes instinctively locked on the bomb that didn't move; the bomb that simply expanded as it drew nearer and nearer.
"No longer can I kill." Over and over, Lukas thought this. "Please Lord, forgive me...Quit this torment; end my life." Rising was the scream of the bombs as they whistled ever closer. Seconds turned to minutes, turned to hours, in what seemed an eternity. Though his comerades beckoned him to join them in their shelter, just fifty meters away, he remained affixed to his position. Under the charred remains of the tank, he waited for his inevitable demise.
Voices of the dead echoed in his mind as the grasp of death rushes ever closer. When time resumed, Lukas was gone; taken by an explosion that he would never hear.
Xenophobic minds created this war, and the evils of the world are consuming us ever more. Youth, cut in its prime and devoured by hatred, Lukas left the world filled with fear and acceptance of his fate. Zion was never reached.

Fun stuff.

Sometimes there're good challenges here.

Completely off topic, but what programs do people recommend for making fighting games? A friend told me MUGEN was good, but I have no clue what my options are. ???
Oh, I just saw this. Look up Fighter Maker 2nd. I couldn't find a working link on the 'net, but I got a copy from someone.
And yeah, it's pretty easy to use. All things considered, at least.
MUGEN sucks, FYI. At least- you don't really make games, just make the resources and whatnot. I'm pretty sure you can't make EXEs with it. But, if you don't mind that, then it's good enough.

I'll PM you.

that was weird.  I found this through google...

http://sylvainhb.blogspot.com/2006/09/cute-pixels.html

basically this guy did a whole study about the art on my website (not the gallery, but the site itself).  Which is quite funny because i didn't put much love into the design as i should have.  anyway, it was flattering.

What do you mean with clickable? Because the banners are hyperlinked (so clickable I guess)
Zoomable maybe? If so, not on the nex box as if would mess up the whole top part when zooming.
Maybe we will set up a thread with all the banners or something.

already have two cats, one is okay, the other (seriously he must be) is retarded, cant stand him. he should've run away by now.
I love dogs, their personalities are a lot better and they're so much more loyal than cats.
its funny, our cats are fully grown, but they're scared shitless of this little puppy who's sleeping 75% of the time, they've also been whoring for attention  :)

I have 3 cats. One is hideously obese, and seems to enjoy peeing and pooing everywhere. Then there's the cute on who stays in hiding the whole time. And finally there's the quiet and observant mother of the two others.

I don't have many good experiences with cats. :-\

Wow, great pagebreak... I'm eating dinner here, browsing through Pixelation, setting up a bunch of threads in tabs and close them down systematically as I eat, and BOOM! Cat of doom.

Out of curiosity, what kind of animal is it eating? The legs look like a rabbit but it's hard to tell.

Yup, it's a small rabbit. It was when I was living in Vienna and my bro was living a town away from our parents (and the cat). Our parents were on vacation and my bro was supposed to feed the cat, but he forgot to do it one day and when he got to the house to feed him it already had taken care of the menu itself :B

Skilled cat, though. Taking down a rabbit that relative size can't be easy.

bah cats arent hard to catch
I was at my friends house the other night and we were playing games, theres like 4 cats that constantly walk around his backyard, sometimes steal his cats food etc, so we set up one of those traps where you pull the stick out and the box falls down on the cat

we caught 3 cats and two hedgehogs :P
dumb fun, but it was fun to narrate what was going through the cats head the whole time :y:

and very cool ptoing, the best thing my cats have done is roll a hedgehog round for a while

Once in a great, great while... a game comes along that all on its own reminds me of why I'm spending all my time and money on art school with aspirations of working in the game industry.

Gears of War is such a game.

They're inspiring, but I haven't played and beaten those in a single, prolonged gaming session like I did with Gears :p

mccow28: try coop; maybe it's just because the first time I played and beat it I did it entirely in coop with a buddy, but it seems a lot more fun that way than the plain old single player.

Yeah, I've gotten a friend over for Co-op. It's very fun; my favourite co-op game that I've played. Didn't get to beat it with him. I'll have to abduct my friend again one of these days and force him to beat it with me. :mean:

Compendium of awesome Co-op Games:
-Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
-DoDonPachi
-Alien vs Predator [Arcade one]
-Xmen [6 player one, Arcade one]
-Contra

Care to add any?

B.O.B., something relatively radical IS on its way with Halo 3. They've moved all the old functions of the X button to the left and right bumper buttons and put a mysterious function on X that they have yet to reveal. Some believe it's sprinting. Some think the bubble shield thing is a seperate function. But no one knows. We'll see! And Bungie already said they don't consider Gears of War a rival for Halo 3. Halo is a run and run with tactical elements, Gears of War is closer to some Rainbow Six game with taking cover and strategy.

Simply finding out how it all ends is my primary reason for craving Halo 3. Aside from the gameplay which we already know will be astounding...

You probably haven't played Call of Duty, Red Steel, Shadow Ops, Pariah, Killzone... All way worse, gameplay wise.
Halo's levels do get repetitive, I enjoy the large open areas the most.

I don't see how anyone can think Halo is that bad. I think it's like me with Ocarina of Time, I don't like it, but all the fanboys saying how great it is [better then Super Metroid? not a chance] drives me to hate it a lot more than first thought. Just a theory. If you really don't like it after giving it a lengthy chance, then I respect your opinion.

If you think Halo was running in a tunnel, you've only played one level. You need to play them all, from start to finish, and be attentive to everything, because unlike some games, Halo is actually more of an experience that has to be had as a whole, or it won't have nearly as much impact. Because everything in the game contributes to it. The art direction, sound direction, the story, the way the story unfolds, the environments it takes place in, and the hundreds of little clues that suggest tales of mysterious thingies around the galaxy. The best thing is that most people won't even notice those things even the second or third time through the campaign.

That's what makes the first game better than the sequel, also. Halo 2 just had a less interesting story... even if the gameplay, technically, is better.

And despite what you just now may or may not have read, I'm NOT a fanboy either. I'm just very interested.

Has anyone here played Gunstar Super Heroes for GBA? I almsot bought the game a while back when it was going for cheap at wallymart. I demoed itthe other day and now I'm glad I didn't get it. Total stinker. I can't understand how it's gotten such good reviews. The boss fights I tried were cramped on screen, movement is less smooth and animation/attacks are a lot jerkier than I remember. There are much more annoying shoot'em up levels, the ones I tried you had to dodge fire while takingup a 1/5 of the screen.. The combo system is gone and the weapons are nerfed. You can't toss people anymore; instead you can only use a crappy sword, which cannot even approach what you might call a replacement for the gunstar toss. I can't believe the same ppl behind Astroboy and Gunstar Heroes(GENESIS) made this travesty.

If anyone here has played this but not the original, do yourself a favour and do so now.

Gunstar Super Heroes = gay^5

One last thought, anyone who's played the original remembers the sweet-ass mine level with the minecart that lets you jump from the ceiling to the floor and vise versa by double-tappign jump. In GSH, jump once moves you to the middle of hte screen, tap jump again and you move you the rest of the way. Lame , stupid and destroys everything that made that level fun. I dont even want to go into the other travesties this crap remake inflicts on the original.

on the subject of halo. halo1 had a pretty cool single player game, some nice and memorable levels, decent multiplayer too. halo2 had awful single player and fun multiplayer if you balance the weapons properly.

it doesnt deserve the praise it gets, but compared to all the other crap on xbox its worthy of some attention

all cats should die......twice

I've had a cat immobilize me for over a week because it bit through my leg muscle tissue for no apparent reason.  heck, it was purring while I was petting it, and the next second it was latched onto my leg. (worst cat bite the Dr had ever seen)  I've had a cat claw my face open during a road trip.  I've had one jump into my travel-bag and commence peeing all over all clothes I had for a vacation I was on (as well as my PDA).  It seriously jumped through the tiny whole I had left open on my bag and decided that it was the best spot to pee.  There was tons of other spots it could have gone such as other people's clothes scattered around, but no.  It had to be in the *tiny* little backpack of mine in which it could barely fit itself.  there was a perfectly good litterbox feet away.  I've had another cat who was literally retarded and had split personalities, I swear.  Cats are no fun.  If I see one on the road, I *WILL NOT* hesitate to smash it to the ground; Kitten, cat, cat-dog, what-have-you.  They are a mistake of nature.

set aside all of my expiriences with them, they are just stuck-up, stubborn, idiots.  They wont come when you call their name (and the definately do know their name), they expect tons and tons of attention with nothing in return, and they never listen to *anything* you say.  Its always *their* way or no way.  sounds alot like women. :P

bah!

Heh, I've had cat troubles before. I had colic when I was an infant, and female cats usual kill their young if the kitten is sick. All of my crying must've brought out the maternal side of my cat and she would attack me. I think she suffered a few kicks down the stairs for it though. She had so many problems though, so it's easy to understand her being pissed. Half a tail (got cut off by the fan of an engine she was sleeping on because it was warm when she was a kitten), couldn't detract her front claws, was blind for the last third of her life, had high blood pressure and of course, had to deal with me. I was never mean to her. I just didn't leave her alone. I'd pet her until she'd had enough and then if I kept petting, which I usually did, she'd attack.

Ironically, her name was Buddha.

I prefer dogs, but cats are alright. Just depends on the animal and how they were raised.

I Agree with Indigo, here. I'm completely a dog person. I don't see the fascination in people who love cats. Of all the cats I've seen as pets, ONLY ONE has ever been playful, or responsive. The majority of cats I've seen give no care what so ever as to who feeds them. I find them very snobbish, and practically skitzo-fied. I remember once  I was taking a shower, and a friends cat was in my room as I walked in with nothing but my birthday suit, and a towel. As soon as I headed toward my clothes, the damn cat tried to attack my "giggle stick", and I immediately threw it's ass half way across the room. I wanted to kick it so bad, but it wasn't my cat. I'm a dog person, all the 'effin way.(Damn, I miss my pit bull...)

cat stories eh?

well, a year or two ago, I was biking home from.. somewhere  :-\ and this cat was sitting on top of a fence, as they do. I continue biking, just as I'm about to pass it, it jumps down I swerve to avoid it and go into this hedge, and it was the most annoying hedge ever, consisted of dried sticks and branches, I got all these sticks 'injected' up my fore-arms and my hands all cut open, my face was cut a bit too.

was really painful, especially having to pull the sticks out, biking home the wind really stung and then going to the doctors :-\

and of all the cats Ive ever known, my old cat was the only one Ive liked, she knew her name had a good personality and knew a few commands, at that time I figured that was the norm. dogs is pretty much the opposite :y:

Heh that reminds me of this video.

My aunt used to have this cat that would bite and scratch everyone but me. That cat was lovely :0

I like dogs, but they are too much work, you have to walk them and wash them and all.
So yeah if I were getting a pet it would be a cat (or a turtle)

Joining the current trend.

I'm a cat and dog person. I've had 3 cats, first one being a deranged tabby (Norwegian forest cat) who used whatever she wanted as a toilet. Favorites were beds, rugs and sinks. Second one was her kitten, same breed and a fantastic cat. Good understanding of language too. She would say good morning to you and be offended if you didn't answer. Some cats prefer not to be petted too long, mostly since it hinders them form sleeping. She was one of them, but there was mutual respect. She knew perfectly well that she was screwed if she didn't obey the rules.

At the moment though, we've got a Siamese. (On my lap right now actually). Took a while to train her as her first owners let her walk on the tables and fed her with tubed cheese  If you didn't remember to put the food away, she would take it. One time she devoured half a chicken and then took the other one by the leg running for cover. She would be busted pretty easily as she sings as she eats. It's amazing how well she understands language though. She'll want something specific and if you ask her what it is she can actually show you. A lot of verbal communication compared to other cats.

As for the dog, I've got a Border Collie. She understands language so well she makes schemes. If you don't pet her, she'll just go over to the next person and look at you like you've missed out. If you say the word "pants", she'll allready be halfway to the front door as she's figured out that a change of clothes means a walk. When you're walking around the house, she'll place a football just out of sight so you'll kick it when you walk past. She had puppies this summer, so I've raised the two from the ground up. Just visited them at their new home. They have acquired superspeed. So yeah...     :y: <- I keep thinking brown slime/booger things when I see these for some reason.

A cat is only as good as the owner who raises it. Kittens are like a sponge and any good or bad actions will multiply into it's personality later on. Same thing with litter training and discipline. Has to be taught early on and right. But whereas dogs can be high maintenance throughout their life times (not stinking to high heaven, doing their business in the appropriate location, not harrasing any passerbys), a well raised adult cat just needs food and a litter box, with the occasional doctor's visit.

I've yet to meet a dog I like, although all the dogs my family have owned have been mutts. I plan on doing some research to find a calm quite breed and try raising one, but I'll always be a "cat person".

But I do think that cats are more of a gamble than dogs. From my experience, cats are more likely to have pronounced personality quirks than dogs, who tend to stay in the loveable dopey attention starved range regardless of breed.

Has anyone taught their cat how to use the toilet? The next kitten I get I want toilet trained, heh.

11:40 - Yeah, it's controls are terrible. I have it on my supercard now, I'm gonna try it again.

11:45 - It's way overrated. Bosses are nice, and the graphics are good. But any part that's not a boss is ridiculously lame. I played the Genesis one on an emulator and it's way better.

I think toilet-training a cat is too much.

My cat is 2 years old. We have this thing we do. She comes in my room and looks at me (I've never had a cat that stares in your eyes as much as this cat, and at a time I was living with 11 cats) so I look, she looks for a long time. At some point I tell her "...what?" and she goes mwowrrrrr and does a little belly roll and covers her face with her paws. It's the most adorable thing ever.

And yeah, we communicate to degrees. She speaks to me and I say "food?" she says mew and I get up and we both go to the kitchen together. If I ask food and she doesn't reply, then she just wants aknowledgement/company.

Dogs are ok I guess, but they're not calm enough for me. I be sittin, chillaxin', watchin me some TV, when doggy just comes in and wanna get me up to go do something. Always be pullin' the leash when they walk, be tryin' to lick me in mah face. I aint gonna be licked in mah face. They're fun to play with when I actually feel like playing, but then there're those dogs that growl when you just look at them. You go to pet them an' dey face be gettin' all evil. You can tell they be wantin' ta kill you.
Cats are cool, though, 'cause they're calm, and when I feel like playing I just take out a laser pointer. I had an awesome cat, but no one liked it but me. We used to wrassle and stuff, but I rarely ever got scratched. And I'd much rather get in a fight with something that I can throw a good seven or eight feet than something that I can hardly move if it doesn't want to be moved. And small dogs suck, so they can't even compare. Then we'd both find a nice patch of sunlight filt'ring through to the rug and I'd lay with her on my back doing homework. Then at night she'd keep my feet warm. (It was kind of annoying though 'cause I always woke up with her butt in my face, but I knew she'd keep the monsters away and she never farted.) I can't say if she was smart or not, cause I never really called her by name. I don't think she was smart though. I miss her. :'(

so I go make some breakfast then going out the back to sit on the porch and eat, she runs to me and sits with me while I eat

makes me think about all the poor bastards driving to work to have another bad day- I envy no man  :)

We taught our cat to use the toilet once. We used some disposable pie pans and kitty litter, and it only took about a month to finish training. You just fill the pie pan with litter, punch a tiny hole in the center and put it on the toilet seat. Once the cat's comfortable with that, you make the hole bigger and bigger until there's no pan at all.

She slowly went nuts without something to dig in though, so we gave her her litter box back after a few months. Results may vary.

Damn you all. I want a pet so badly... but I don't have time, money, a fitting place for it to stay... and recently I've developed some bizarre fur allergy.

How can you get allergic to fur after 3 years of not being around pets, after a constant 15 years of spending time with them EVERY DAY?

Hahaha. I love this thread.

I was walking home and this cute white-fur cat plumpss itself down into the snow a couple feet in front of me. I stare at the thing for a little while and as I'm about to wlak past it jumps in the air and runs across in front of me. I keep walking and after a couple secs it starts to charge at me, its little bell ringing, and I fear that this thing is going to leap at me and rip out my eyeballs.

I'm aware of that, but it's not practical to have one when you live on the fourth floor of an apartment complex and spend seven hours a day at school. And again, I'm allergic... Why am I allergic?!

Well, I mean - I'm at work for at least 8 hours a day, I live on the second story of an apartment complex, my cats are indoor cats, and they're happy and healthy. They wake me up in the morning, cuddle with me when I get home at night. I feed them before I go to work and again when I get back. So as far as your schedule goes, you're fine - you could even use the "gone all day" thing as an excuse to get two.  :y: ;D

As far as allergies are concerned, everybody's different.. I'm allergic to cats, too, but as long as I vacuum and wash my bedsheets every now and then, I'm fine. And if my allergies do start to act up, Benedryl does the trick.

Yeah, I know cats are good at taking care of themselves. I've been around them for some time, after all.

The allergy thing ticks me off, though. When I was little, my grandma had a cat that I used to be with all the time. And also a dog. Then the dog died, and we got a new dog (our dog instead of grandma's this time). Then the cat died. Then we moved away and left the dog with grandma. Around three or four years later, we get to look after a kitten while its owners go on vacation, and a friend of mine gets a dog. Suddenly they both make me all itchy and sneezy just from being around them. I would get a mild rash of some sort on my arms just from petting my friend's dog.

I jjust don't get why.

since we're still on the subject of cats and dogs, and I'd expect it will be for some time, behold a cat tripping on LSD:

wonder what the cats seeing...

if that isn't a segue for drug discussion- I don't know what is :P

Do you want me to skecth a diagram of a cat and tell you where the sand got stuck in?.
The Sand blocked it up and caused pain in the cats woman part.
In pain and sandy they put it to sleep.

First your brother's friend died because he got sand stuck in his penis and now a cat died because she got sand stuck in her 'woman part'? This is getting a bit creepy and confusing.

I have two cats: Bury and Kot, both female. Bury is a kind of oldschool, as it`s now 15 and still makes trouble around.

rerg just to let you know the only way for something to get stuck in someone or somethings woman parts is through insertion, it wouldnt just, drop in. unless the sandbox was a premier sex spot.

I attempt to clear things up.
Once my bro told me his friend deid because he got sand stuck up his penis and he had to be put down for it.

That totally sucks.
I believe you meant to say "...his friend's cat deid[sic]...", but left out the part in bold.  Am I mistaken?  Furthermore, was the cat male or female?  Or was it a hermaphroditic cat?  You claim both a penis and a "woman part".  Please make a coherent, typo-free, grammatically correct post and clear all of this up for us.  Thank you.

Forget what I said.

This story is true. Again hard to believe.

Me and my friend and his dad where driving from his house since he was moving hsi stuff to his new home.
We where near Rotterdam Airport and went round the round about and than the small red car was riding 20 KPH in a 60KPH (I think), His dad horned and the Red car whammed int the bushes. My friends dad told us to stay in the car and he approached the car. He saw in the back a shitload of Bacardi. ( This is where it gets interesting). His dad pulls the man out says he is the police and tell him to put hands on the car. The man (drunk) falls down a few times and when he fell down on his 3rd time, my friends dad took the keys from the car threw them in the river/grass and goes to his care and says he is calling for back up. We sped off. You should of seen the guys face.

So this is what happened to me once, hard to believe yes. I was having breakfast when I suddenly got sand in my penis and some old man told me that when driving a car with high speed your head might explode and you die. So there I was alone in the jungle while drunk people were chasing me and I was eating cereal. Then suddenly the dog said "Hello, I've been informed that you have sand in your woman part" and I told the cat that I don't have a penis. The horse said "Ok" and left. All I had was the toothpaste the dog had given me. So I ate the toothpicks and I felt funny because my dad told me that when you eat dog shit it turns into a walrus that starts wobbling around in your belly and then you learn to fly. So I just flew home and then then I took a dump and the walrus came out and we had a tea party and everything was great.

What I think of you has nothing to do with this forum. I don't concern myself with you any more than I have to.  Use the forum to learn, not try to earn points and socialize with the userbase. You're trying too hard. I don't want to have anything more than that to do with you directly. Your infatuation with me is misplaced.
