[WIP] blob animation

on: November 19, 2006, 05:46:59 pm
Okay, this is my first pixelled animation, and I wanted to submit it for any improvements ect.
I know the top is mucked up right now, I was trying to get the hitting the floor to look as good as possible.

Any advice on where to go next?

Hello there, welcome to the forum. One of the basic principles of animation is squash & stretch...not that I'm an expert. But the impact needs to have effect on the form as a whole, that is, the whole blob needs to squash at the impact, and maybe stretch a little as it takes off again. It will give it much more "bounce" to the motion.

Hi, thankyou for the advice.
Do you think this is any bettter?

I think the landing looks better, but I couldn't get the "stretch" to look right.

yea I agree, theres nothin stopping you spashing your character slightly and streching im on lift-off.. before you add the details use 1 or 2 colours to plan out your animation sequence before-hand, that flick on his head should raise when he's falling, fall down on landing, keep down bouncing back up and when he stops mid air should level out.

6 frames

also his face is very vacant, put more animation into his/her/it's expression.
its half the size of yours so click on it for x2

Its a very cute blob-thing, Akka.
You did a great job designing and coloring it, but definetly take everyones advice. Especially study Terley's example.

Btw, Terley, you totally nailed the bounce effect. Adorable. ^_^
