Miss Llamerica :O

on: September 14, 2005, 12:18:55 pm
A pixel version of some sketch I received.

10 colors

It originally had an MTV logo, but I took them off at the end
(The whole sketch was revolving around the "MTV made" program idea, as a parody, where a llama was transformed into "Miss Llamerica", and the llama thing came after playing too much with the sims2 university extension, where they had this llama dude)

Uhm feel free to c&c
Oh and special thanks to ptoing and pHASE1 for the crits while I was doing it.

Absolutely wonderful . I'm mostly impressed by the fur, it's uses a limited pallette yet it's beautifully rendered and has a very tactile quality to it.

Hehe, those reality shows do get out of hand.

- You've done a nice job of expressing the fur around the cheek and stomach.

- The darkest shade of the fur bothers my eyes.  It doesn't seem to follow a consistent light source and feels a little too red.

- Good use of colors to soften up the lettering on the banner thing.  I would have naively painted it all one color. ;p

Overall great job. Hope to see more from you.

while i'm inclined to agree with madtoaster on the darkest shade being to red thing, it turned out simply awesome. just look at the rendering of the fur in the belly/chest/throat area, cheez

keep it up :D

Wow, that is amazing. I personally like the darkest shade being saturated so.
The AA is effing ace, but in a few parts it looks a little off, like on the back of the neck, where the legs overlap, and the back/top of its left hand. But it's not too much of a big deal.

Thanks for all the comments, they are pretty much appreciated.

Personally, I kinda like the darkest shade, but maybe later I'll play a bit with it and see how it goes.
As for the fur, it was pretty much a "last minute" addition (well more like a last day addition). Ptoing suggested to give the llama more details and push myself (or something in that line) and yeah.

@Razz: The AA on those parts might look a bit "weird" but without it, those parts look pointy and unnatural (...not that a llama standing on two legs is anything natural though)

Anyway, as said, thanks for the comments
