I'm looking for a pixel artist who specialises in fantasy art. It is also crucial that the art is as authentic to early 90s video game graphics as possible. I'm looking for a very good level of detail for mountains and landscapes, similar to this style - https://openretro.org/image/a7236e9ae17d9599bb389c8133d15efcd820de9e?s=2x

Ultimately, I'm looking for a piece of artwork that is authentic to the 90s video game style, so in many ways, stylistically like Mickey Mouse World Of Illusion on the Megadrive, too.

The final image should be rectangular so as to fit both the front and back cover of a card CD digifile. Additional character sprites are also required for the inside artwork.

To get an idea of the vibe of the project, you can listen to the music here, and read the narration which accompanies each track:

The whole project is essentially a bit of spoof on the whole genre of old fantasy video games and is intended to have a good sense of humour.

The image we had in mind was of the arena (coliseum) on the left hand side with a queue of (fairly dishevelled and impoverished) fantasy characters leading to the entrance from the right hand side. The perspective would start with the people near us on the right and then moving into the distance by the time they get to the coliseum on the left. In the background are mountains and wooded landscapes with the tiny silhouette of a dragon somewhere in the sky.

In addition, I'm looking for 10 sprites which are the characters. These will be placed separately inside the CD case.

When applying, please provide the following:

- a quote of how much you will charge for this commission.
- examples of previous pixel art you have created.
- a realistic rough time frame you think you can have the commission completed in.

I am not an expert on pixel art or particularly on video games (I've just enjoy both!), so please let me know if you need anything clarifying.

I had created a cover in a very different style myself, with a different design, however, I realised that since the music pays tribute to the video game style, I should pay something back to the pixel art community and commission one of you severely talented individuals to do something more authentic!

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

Josh

Hi Josh,

I've seen your post several times in different forums. I believe I sent you a message but didn't got a reply. I wonder if it's been hard for you to find an artist that fits the idea you have, or maybe your budget? I could point out artists that can definitely create something like the example you show, tho it will cost some money. I would try it myself, tho I don't think I've done something of that nature before. If you want a sample I can also try it out and see if it fits that style.

Let me know,
Cheers!

Hi!

Thanks for your interest. I'm afraid someone has already been hired for the job.
I really like what you're doing though, so do keep up the good work!

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch, I do appreciate it.
