Diver Idle Animation

on: December 11, 2017, 06:53:37 pm

Idle animation for a video game character. 17 frames seems excessive, but I couldn't get the hair to look right with less. What do you think?

For what it's worth this is the diving version of the red head in this post https://pixelation.org/index.php?topic=24197.0

It might be hard but I would add some leg movement, hands move so I don't see why he shouldn't use his legs. Also if he moves his feet, legs would move too ;) other than that my amateur eyes like it

Thanks! I think that is an improvement. It got really complex but there is at least more life to the character now.

I updated the hair and cut the frames down as well.

And one more thing, feet and legs usually move one after the another when swimming and not in sync, if you know what I mean :) nice edit though

cool sprite and cool idea  :y:

first thing that caught my eye was whats going on with the rear hand.
at first seemed like he was loading the gun or something.
now i see what its doing but still think u should change it so it doesn't look like its involved with the gun.

front leg animation needs smoothing its only 2 frames.

have u tried passing a gentle 1 pixel waving motion across the whole body?
by that i mean front section waves up, then hips, then legs as front drops down and so forth.
this would be in addition to the existing animations of each part.
just in idea.

I think the gun arm should have three frames of animation instead of two, so it pulls down, then across, then up-right; instead of down-left, then up-right.

I actually think you should simplify it a bit, it feels a bit spazzy for an idle animation now with all the changes (especially the twitchy legs)

Yeah smoothing out the twitchy leg made a big difference. Thanks for all the advice everyone!
