Hoping for general critique.

on: November 26, 2017, 06:53:51 am
I'm not sure why the preview isn't working. I used Imgur, if the embed isn't working the links are: https://i.imgur.com/3cFiauN.gif and https://i.imgur.com/nVkdZQM.gif

The character is supposed to be The Sandman from the Neil Gaiman comic series.

I would like to hear what you think, I'm delving back into sprite art while working on a couple portfolio mock-up games. The idea is that I want to get this to the level at which I could use it in a professional portfolio. I'm not an experienced artist, I could really use any and all critiques.

for me when he is stationary the texture on the cloth moves so much that the cloth itself should move if you know what I mean ( the outline remains the same while texture looks like it is flapping )

Also besides what SlimEddie said,

Since the cape is moving, the hair should be moving as well (hair tips).

Got any tips for moving the outline? I originally wanted to, but it was moving so fast that it looked more like it was flashing than blowing. I was aiming for a short walk cycle, should I add more frames?

I'll work on the hair for the stationary sprite.

I think animating two steps of the walk cycle rather than one would give you more time to make the cape flow better.

Just have the same walk cycle, except the cape animation cycles every two steps instead of every step...

Am I making sense?
