Oh! I think I understand what it means (not totally haha still have to digest for a while) as I'm experimenting it with different colours and shades.Thank you guys!! I'll try to keep it up.

Once you've made a ramp, there's an easy way to balance out the values rather than doing it completely manually.
If you don't have Photoshop, you can also do this in Gimp (free) I believe.

Menu: Image - Adjustments - Levels
Mess around with all these sliders for a while and you should start to get a feel for it (if not, Google).
