When he crouches, his legs get a lot longer.  I think his upper body needs to move down a few more pixels for it to look natural.  That or his legs should be longer in the first place, unless you want to keep the stubbiness.  The head turn looks fine, although an ear or some side/back of head detail would help show the turning.
Always remember: a preposition is not something you should end a sentence with.

Given up on the crouching. Well, not given up so much as I realized how pointless it is. Crouching in the game probably wouldn't do anything, when you consider my limitations. :x

So I made it the opposite of the "up" animation. I figure the "up" can be used for pushing switches and going through doors, set on the background layer, and "down" can be used for talking to characters and reading signs, in the foreground.
