[WIP] Need some review on my running cycle.

on: September 07, 2017, 01:13:16 am
Good evening everybody ! I hope everything's going right for you.
So, i've been working on the running animation of one of a characters, but no matter what I do, I can't figure out how to "perfectize" it . It always seems a bit of, as if it was missing something.

Anyway, I just want to say that i've been doing pixel art for only a couple of mounth, and thus I'm really not that advanced. Don't get mad over poor work, i'm doing my best <3

Here's what it looks like when animated :

a slower version :

and finally : how is the character when "standing still" so that you have an idea of what it looks like.

Thanks a lot for any retour ! Have a nive night !

Welcome to Pix.

As you can see compared to these refs: [1] [2] the height of your character through the run cycle is uneven, should be basically the same for either step. This tutorial has a good formula for it, all 3 refs I put up are informative though so check them out.

There's a lot of jittery movement in the animation, like the sword, pants, etc., but the back arm has the least problems in this regard. You can probably redo some inbetween frames for those parts and add some follow-through while you're at it.
