Okay, so I'm designing the game they're going to be used in now. Think of a cross between Worms, Unreal Tournament and Lemmings. Before the level starts you'd buy yourself an army of these guys. After it starts you could deploy whoever you need whenever you need them. You can set them to do simple tasks like Defend the Base, Attack the Enemy, Take the Flag. They could be sent in in groups or one at a time. You'd also be able to control one at a time directly with the keyboard, if you controlled a character from a group, everyone from that group would try to emulate what you do.

Btw, here I found a flash movie, that looks very like the game idea you described :) http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/316045

Interesting carnage notwithstanding, I don't see that having anything in common with that design.

Probably we percieved Pawige's idea different. When I read his post I imagined lots of little people running around on platforms mostly by themselves, killing each other. And that's basically what we see on that swf, but with bigger people and no way to control them.

I thought a bit more like lemmings with AI.
How about a paper-scissors style thing, where certain things are more expensive/harder to get, but beat other weaker things. They can only beat so many before they themselves are beaten.
...? Did I understand the concept right?

Okay, so I'm designing the game they're going to be used in now. Think of a cross between Worms, Unreal Tournament and Lemmings. Before the level starts you'd buy yourself an army of these guys. They could be sent in in groups or one at a time. You'd also be able to control one at a time directly with the keyboard, if you controlled a character from a group, everyone from that group would try to emulate what you do.

Each character would have their own specific uses:

Lincoln would have an oratory skill that would power up all friendlies on the map.
Rincewind would be very fast, and always followed closely by the luggage, an extremely deadly mêlée fighter.
Stormtroopers would just be armed meatshields, spraying blaster bolts pell-mell, willy-nilly.
Vader would be a powerful but slow character, tough as well as difficult to hit, and deadly in close quarters.
Cosmo would able to use his suction cup hands to climb to places other characters can't get to.
Lemmings could use their umbrellas to jump off very high places, as well as build walls and stairs wherever you command.
Necromancer would raise the dead as moderately powerful skeletons.
Merlin would have a variety of offensive and defensive spells.
Elvis could use his music to start everyone in a certain radius dancing.
Moses could call down lightning to kill the enemies, or manna to heal friendlies.
Jessica rabbit, Monroe, and Esmeralda could seduce enemy characters into switching teams, with various other stats.
Gump would just wander around the map, activating random events.
Holmes would examine corpses of enemies and inform everyone of weaknesses, improving damage against that type.
Doughboy would be able to take massive amounts of damage.
I think we all know what Chuck Norris would do.

This would be a crazy amount of work and I'd probably need a lot of help, especially programming-wise, but I really really like the idea so far.  :D

I love your ideas!! This would be such a kickass game! I can't wait to see what ideas you have for the rest of the characters!

Oh, and your sprites look awesome! So well designed for such small sprites. I love 'em.  :y:

I really like these Charecters!
what I like more is how you made them look so familiar to what they are!
I would like to see some more animation :y:

I think Medusa would be an interesting addition to the game.  ;)
