Bulbasaur Sprite help?
on:

i did a new sprite. It's of Bulbasaur again. I'm trying to emulate the Pokemon style of spriting by looking at the official sprite art. This is my image.
I based it off this:
And this:
I also added my own style. is my shading correct? Is it better than my greyscale attempt?

Looks better than the old one.
Watch the shapes and the color clusters in the original Pokemon sprites. They are simpler and look cleaner and nicer.
Try to avoid using so many single pixels. Most of them are just noise.
I deleted the eyes and mouth so you can easily see how the shading is simpler than yours.

Not quite there! Bulbasaur has a slightly deflated ball shape to his head, take a look at how light affects a ball and apply that to his head and bulb!

Looking much better! I recommend practicing some basic shapes in your free time soon to stabilize your lines next, being able to get smooth lines/shapes going is integral to ANY art form, but especially pixel art!

I agree with curly. It seems you did this with a trackpad. If that's true you should try changing to a mouse. Here's a cleaned up version of your sprite.
I fixed the jaggies, changed the colors of the outlines, slightly changed the shading, and made the markings more organic.
