[C&C] Improving! (I think)

on: January 24, 2017, 02:43:32 pm
Hey guys, it has been a while since my last post and i think that i've been making improvements.

As always, all feedback is appreciated.

One of my first sprites was this guy:

i tried to make a dark-foggy dude with bad intentions.
I've been looking for color improvement and i think that this is a good change on that guy:

I wanted help with the smoke surrounding the sprite's back.

And also, i'm looking for good monster poses. Trying to find something fresh.Help me pixel gods!

Cheers! ;D

Study some pictures of smoke, and try to apply a more natural fade to the trail!

Found some animating smoke with google image. Unfortunately I only found recreated 3D effects since I searched "pixel smoke".

I like both your images but the second one is stronger due to the shading and pose/anatomy. Both are interesting poses for monsters I think. Would be cool to see an animating smoke back but that might not fit with the project. Either way, I think the smoke still needs some work.

Mystery:

As always, thanks for your words Meat. Every time i come here you are there for me and everyone, i'm starting to think to make an appreciation post for you (#NOHOMO).
This sprite resembles a depressed person, burning inside ... so that's why they have smoke.
I've been looking at smoke on Metal slug for example, and it has a very weird behavior .

HeyGuy:

Thanks for your references bro, i'm aiming towards the second one, trying to make something subtle you know?
Oh, and by the way, the second sprite it's the evolution of the first one.

I love the way of how smoke looks on metal slug, but i think that's a real challenge and i'm not sure if i am capable of achieving such level
