Reindeer

on: December 12, 2016, 01:09:40 am
Hello
I am making a pixel art of a reindeer:

Notes:
  • The purpule-ish and pink colors are from an analogus color schmeme
  • Light source is in the top-right

Thanks in advance!

That's a pretty chunky reindeer! Find a reference image off google, deer are very slender creatures!
PSA: use imgur

Messin around.

This is rough but I would encourage you to tear it apart, see how it works or doesn't. More on it later.

I liked @pistachio 's rendition of the reindeer, but it looks way too much like a bear for me. It still needs to be thinner.. more sleek!

I've slightly modified pistachio's, made the back leg thinner, added a tail, and changed some coloring. I'm not happy with the shading and a few other tweaks could be made, like the front legs don't quite look right, but here's a version for you to tweak if you'd like.  Sounds like you're in a rush!  :P

Edit: Made a few more modifications.. I think the christmas hat, the eyes, and the ears kinda suck, but more food for thought.

I meant look at stuff like the levels of contrast, the shadows and highlights, how they wrap around the form, and where the detail is. Take yours and then my edit into an image editor and desaturate them, then compare the lights and shadows.
Basic tutorials will also make the thought process clearer.

Actually PixelArt.Tech's highlighted some aspects of the lighting that weren't working out on my part, so try that instead of mine.

Post moar, but don't be this guy and make the first latepost of 2017 :blind:
