His yorso doesn't move at all, pretty unnatural! Look at some gifs of people walkimg, Google is an excellent resource!

The shading on the hair and face is too similar to the original color and hard to tell there even is shading. You've go a nice sway for the arms though which gives your sprite character. Just as mysterymeat said, add a bob to his walk.

you need to have vertical movement as well, specially in this case since men doesn't walk with the hips that much. The leg movement is a bit "snappy", maybe you could try to give it a little rhythm
I think this gif could help you. (source: @saint11)

Thanks guys, I've got some things to work towards. As far as the shading goes I don't have any at this point. I think I'm sort of struggling getting the "style" I'm looking for.

I think you're pretty close! Just put a bit more work into the torso shape and try to put more thought into consistancy in the design, like so:

What I did here was pretty minor, I just expanded the back by a pixel to give him a more natural spinal curve and made the shoulders poofy like the legs to give the design a better visual balance. There were minor things, like making sure the feet were always on the floor (you had a good bounce going already as it turns out, though I wound up adding top frames at the height of each stride to give him more ups) and using his belt to imply turning in the torso!
Edit: Most importantly, I also gave him a proper ass.

Also, post at original resolution, we have a plugin on the website that makes it so images posted here can be magnified without loss!
