After the battle {WIP} Can somebody tell me my mistakes?

Hello! I have very little experience in PixelArt (this is my second drawing), and I would be very happy if someone could describe my mistakes which at the moment are at work. I guess that I'm very much mistaken in giving volume to the horse and the creation of lighting. Thank you!

Have you used any reference for the image so far? If so, providing it could help everyone who wants to say something a lot.

I think the image could use a ton more contrast. Right now the horse has a lot of colors that I can't see without zooming in real close in the body area.

Thanks for the tips!   A small update. Changed the color tones on the horse, slightly improved background (Little bit), and partially farm. + various minor fixes

Cool, that's working.  Horse is looking less flat now which is good! I feel the mane and tail could do with the same treatment. I think you could still push the contrast further too.

The background stuff feels like it has a bit too much prominence as well.  The mountain and burning village don't feel as far away as I think you're meaning them to be.
