I have to say what I say to most members that seem to be starting out with art: work on traditional skills for a while before setting your sights at pixel technique. Practise drawing what you see, blocking volumes and shading as realistically as you can, for a long while. Don't improvise, don't draw what you think you see, but what you see. I am not sure we can offer you much help at this time besides those pointers.

Hmm. I've done a lot of traditional art. I guess that I need to do more by your standards but I'm quite satisfied with how the face came out.

Im gonna give you a few pointers. Always try to outline your sprites cause usually when you have a bright choice of colors against a white bg. It gives it a fake 3d's look. I think the sword should be a second light source since its lit. His legs seem bent so you need to try to fix a little anatomy in there. Otherwise I like the idea of it.

Then you might want to add a dark grey, a navy blue, and a white.

Just as a reminder for future posting, please state your reference if you've based your pixel art off someone else's.

Your gemini edit is based off the Megaman Zero idle sprite. "Raken" could be an edited Megaman X, but It's better if we don't have to guess as unnecessary accusations or missunderstandings may occur.

If you link to the reference it would be easier for others to critique or give pointers. Just note that most members here prefer to make things from scratch rather than use edits as some regard it as somewhat of a taboo.

Raken is full scratch... And yes, a model is pobably an edit of a model. :P I'm not trying to taboo or swindel or screw over anybody.

We don't 'rate' here, we critique. You're pillow-shading, might want to ditch that approach for a more discernible lightsource-friendly shading method.
