Please don't make the pictures link to imageshack. That's the most annoying thing ever. Just get rid of the [url] stuff when you post.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

I think you should read some tuts about the basics of pixel art, have you tried Tusgumo's and St0ven's ( http://www.spriteart.com )?
these won't make you a great artist in a day, practice is the key.


About your set, the colors on the building are too close to each other, the cars need shading (choose a light source and put highlights and shadows).
The grass needs less saturation ^^

 Really good work I found you did. It looks accurate like dirt, cars, etc. I would focus on the color. Vary your hues for your shading. Make the highlight yellowish and shadows bluesih. They also need contrast. Your grass blades should look more realistic. Make the grass grow upward instead of straight lines. In best regards, good luck!
