little help with walk cycle

on: August 18, 2016, 01:26:16 am
hi, I'm doing my first walk cycle ever for a game I'm making and I'm having a little trouble with the front view, I have the side view figured out pretty much:

but I can't seem to get the legs looking right on the front:

I haven't attempted to make the arms or hair move yet, trying to figure out one thing at a time
any advice or edits would be extremely helpful, thank you in advance

please read more carefully before posting

.

Milk, I think when the legs hit the ground, they shouldn't stick to the surface, but should be continuously ambulating as if on a treadmill. This only means a pixel or two difference on a single frame of each leg. Actually the background leg in the side view is moving after planting, but the foreground is not. If you change this in your side view, it can be interpreted in the front view by making the shadow envelop the leg from the top down as it recedes under the skirt. The horizontal shrinking on the legs in front view also seems a frame or two too early, it should occur once they are at or behind the midpoint of their motion.

On the side view the front foot sticks in the same position for 2 frames.
Same with the arm, it sticks during the swing.

Pretty small changes, but I made the feet move up a frame sooner to lessen the "freeze" piledriver mentioned, as well as some minor distortion to the skirt as it makes contact with the knees.

It was more noticeable on the side view, though it was present in the front view as well.
Unfreezed side (just don't have the limbs be in the exact same position 2 frames in a row, have them be in constant motion)

Other notes, there are a lot of extra, unnoticeable colors, especially in the dress. The head buns bounce a tad too much.

thanks guys, with your help I've got the front animation looking like this;

the only part i have left to animate is the bangs in the front, but I'm not sure how I should do it, should I make them just bouncing slightly or have them move side to side? and if i make them swing side to side, would i have the direction be opposite of the foot thats hitting the ground? or would they move with the foot

I'm thinking you might not need to move them at all unless it's single pixel difference. The movement on the rest of her is enough that to add too much more of it might become distracting.

I think you're right, I tried to move the bangs but I'm not sure I like it
