Welcome :)

Nice start. For starters I'd recommend you don't scale it and post it at it's original resolution. (You can zoom by just left clicking a picture on the forums!)

A few thoughts:
There are a few stray blue pixels near his face.
The contrast is too strong between the colors, try to reduce saturation on some!
There are some anatomy issues which can be fixed. (Unless you want it stylized)
The hair looks wonky! D:
Establish a light source. It'll really pull together your sprites.

Also I'd recommend not using a pure white background, but that's just me.
Can you post your reference sprite? (if any)

To repeat the ever-so-memorable quote by Atnas.

"Pixel Art is 90% Art and 10% pixel tech."

You should start learning the basics of drawing before you go straight unto pixel art, try drawing with a pencil and paper first, and learn the fundamentals of art, such as shading, anatomy and form.

Don't worry, we'll try to make it look nice! It's a very nice sprite for a beginner.

Ah so, imagine there is a bulb in front of the character and the light is coming from that direction. Now imagine how it will interact with your character and where the shadows will be. Try it! It's real fun.
