Hello, I did a thing where I pixel art-ed something I drew in the past, for practice:

I guess I'm thinking if there's any feedback on technique and colors (11 colors + transparency), or anything else that seems relevant.

Looks crazy good! Sorry I cant offer more than that really. The horns are kinda funny looking, but you drew them great.

Pretty solid! For feedback, try doing some work on dithering! There's some pretty noticeable color banding, like on the leg, and dithering can help to mitigate that!
It might also help achieve the sort of "mottled" look the coloring on the original has!

Super cute and great sketches too  :y:

Imo don't dither for the sake of dithering.
For example u can dither in selected places to imply texture such as scales but before attempting that i would fix the bands of colour issue without dithering.
The usual way to do this is that the gradient doesn't need to be spread so evenly across the form.
Many materials have large dark and light areas with a smaller gradient between them.

yah, I don't want to rely on dithering (usually if I am going to do it I would approach it more as "texturing," but I don't want to do that for this for now. I did make one of the colors lighter since it was close to the dark blue though, so hopefully the banding is better or/and seems more like a natural cut off for shadows.

Thanks of the video! It's easy to forget basics, I made some edits to try and make the lighting more realistic.

In general also tried adding some more detail to the leg and some other tweaks:
