[C+C] Newbie working on sprites

on: April 13, 2016, 01:45:57 pm
Hey everyone! I'm new to pixel art so please bear with me! Hope I don't torment you with too many absurd questions.

Not sure if this is the right approach but I would like to improve at shading, coloring and working with palettes in general before I try to advance with anything else.

I tried altering the 3 variations of the sprite in some ways, I can tell my color choices and shading are not done very well and I would love to read some critique and tips which will probably be way more efficient than trying to figure it out by myself.

In a (say 32 color) palette, how much colors should you use in fact? Only the basic 32 or is it okay to use the ones in between or maybe even multiple shades of one color?

By the way, not sure if it's relevant but I'm using Pyxel Edit.

Apologies for my poor English and thank you in advance!
