Waitress Animation

Hi! I hope I'm doing this right.

I made this little waitress bouncing animation for Pixel Dailies and I was wondering if I could get some critique on it.



I think it's pretty alright, though the skirt could use some work.

Hi Shnurbs,

Funny piece :)

The black has too much contrast on the skirts, you should light it up a little bit.
Shadow on the knees should move has the skirt is getting up and down.

It's very difficult to read the facial expression. You could had a little more contrast and/or use brown eyes.

It would be nice if shoulders could have a little motion too, implying whole arms.
Would be nice if you could also get some bending on the knees.

legs should have more motion for a jump that big, you'd want to draw the knees in a tiny bit at the landing frame at the very least.

edit: did a very lazy mockup


There's also a lot of visual noise, but I don't feel like that's a huge issue for this particular style. gives it kind of a "glimmery" look.

legs should have more motion for a jump that big, you'd want to draw the knees in a tiny bit at the landing frame at the very least.

Thanks for the feedback! I've added in some bend in the knees, some motion in the arms, some changes to the face, and I've changed the color of the dress to red.

Thoughts?

Cool. Progress is real on this one. Can I recommend the last thing is add a shadow? Then you can see the distance even more clearly that she is jumping off the floor.

Also why are there white pixels on the skirt, shouldn't they be a bit red if they are meant as highlights?
